Did you miss a good, inspiring designer home? I’m all for the cottage-y chic of a home, a cozy feeling I don’t get from every décor or house I find. Especially one owned by a designer.
Have you noticed, actually – designers are usually forward thinking persons, not easy to contain in a more classical pattern. But are they doing that because it’s de rigueur? Or because their artsy thinking and being doesn’t “feel” a more classical attitude towards living etc? Anyway, not that I got my curiosity out of the way, let’s get back to Henry Roth’s home.
Henry Roth, if you’re not familiar with a name or do not know where to place him exactly, is a wedding dress designer (actually his family owns the bridal fashion business) who got back to Sidney from New York to operate the family’s fashhouse. He is also more familiar to the Australian TV viewers since he is the Australian’s Project Runway’s Mentor. So here’s where he lives, his family home, designed in the 50s by the reputed Architect Harry Seidler. (these images have appeared in the March 2011 issue of InStyle Australia; via)
