Gwyneth Paltrow Covers Vogue UK May 2010

It has been a while since Gwyneth’s notorious Vogue covers. Going for a portrait cover this time, Gwyneth Paltrow seems to take more pride in her Goop-ish ways than her acting ways.

Even so, I’m sure there’s a Gwyneth-movie coming up sometime soon, so this UK Vogue May 2010 cover only comes as a result of the promotional campaign. Regardless, I think Gwyneth can do so much more than show her pretty face and preach a certain lifestyle. Do you do Goop? (photo via)

Awwwwwful. I can’t stand this face with absolute no expression.

well guess it’s an issue I won’t be buying then. I can’t stand this woman – she seems so smug and complacent. And she’s been as dull as dishwater in every film she’s been in except ‘Shakespeare In Love’.

I’m not a gooper. I can not relate to Gwyneth and her privileged lifestyle. That’s probably why?
Gwyneth overrated? Maybe, but so is celebritism as a whole since the last decade. I’m sick of the royal treatment of those stars. It’s not just her. Even our own Royals are more normal than these people. It’s not only the media that created this: the buyers and flocking sheep did. Just saying!

As for this cover: very mediocre like so many magazines. Far too many cheap looking texts too. The Catalogue Cover Look.
Only the warm orange colour does something for me. But I’m Dutch. :D

I do goop as I find the emails interesting. The way that I look at it at least she is trying to offer something positive, and I do appreciate that in a world that seems to be chock full of negativity and disparaging. She is not one of my favourites. I don’t dislike her for her acting, nor do I admire her for it. I am never dissuaded from seeing a film just because she is in it.
This cover has a vintage feel to it for me, and I do like the warm orange glow of it.

Speaking of royal families – I have so much respect for Princes Will and Harry for serving their country in Afganistan. I think military service amongst royal people is a truly wonderful thing and sets such a good example to young people.

RSr: it’s not common to speak politics here but I don’t see how how the Princes William and Harry serve the UK by fighting in Afghanistan! William even can’t! As I don’t see why a lot of our young men has died over there. They didn’t serve my country in any way, we lost just some fine young men in a battle the western world is never going to win.

There are never good reasons for going to war but I just wanted to point out the example Harry sets as a privileged young man who has chosen to serve his country on the frontline while so many disaffected, listless youth in Britain and many other commonwealth nations are in real need of good role models. I think they have a fine one in Harry.
I did not intend to bring up ‘politics’ per se – the word ‘royal’ just made me think of the princes.

@RSr:
Can we agree to disagree? Though I think that Harry is a charming bloke he’s (until now) not really a good role model “to serve his country in the frontline etc.?” Again: my opinion is different than yours. I don’t see how people “serve their country” in as well in Afghanistan as Iraq! Let’s keep to this? Since this is an item about a cover and this is not a blog to discuss politics. Although I showed some subtle patriotism to mention the color orange. =)

People ‘serve their country’ when their governments have decided to go to war and they agree to put their lives in clear and present danger. The situation is what it is. ‘Alea iacta est’. The die is cast. Someone has to go and do the job, like it or not. Harry, whether he agrees with his government’s decision or not, is risking his life. If he doesn’t go, another officer will take his place. Harry doesn’t think of his own self-preservation as a royal heir or perhaps as anyone more ‘important’ or ‘valuable’ than someone else. This is what I find honourable.
Of course we can disagree.
I noticed a lengthy argument on this site about the fur trade and the politics therein so I don’t think it is a topic you can stifle in general.
(Of course I can stick to fashion if it makes you more comfortable. It is, too, what I like talking about most!) :)

That was an awful lot off money your Prince Harry spent on champagne last weekend isn’t it? A real great role model not to speak about some of his other actions. Never mind, it’s your prince not mine. As for wars and the causes and why I’d rather not get into that topic here? I’ve very strong views you see which can be offensive for people who do not agree.

I think I can forgive him if he wants to enjoy himself – he deserves it under the circumstances – he’s probably seen some horrifying things that you and I never will.

Probably……
