Siouxsie And The Banshees Hong Kong Garden

Since you liked last week’s Friday trifecta, I decided I should break today’s Friday moment in two. One that’s more animated and let’s say “vintage” and the other… well, we’ll see about that later!

Siouxsie & the Banshees released their Hong Kong Garden in 1978 but it only caught my attention in 2006, on Marie Antoinette’s soundtrack. I loved that movie. The fashion, the frivolity, the cakes, the hats, the shoes, Kirsten! (more info right after the jump and also a live performance video of Siouxsie & the Banshees Hong Kong Garden !) Enjoy a good piece of punk music!

Getting in line with Tarantino’s Asian musings, I felt the oriental crunch and gave in to the punk rhythm. That plus Marie Antoinette makes quite an interesting break… If you think there’s no liaison entre les deux, you’re highly mistaking! The song’s very name, Hong Kong Garden was the name of a Chinese takeaway from London (Chislehurst, High Street). The song itself was made to praise the virtues of Chinese food and Chinese restaurants. Sofia Coppola must have known the culinary implications of that punk tune and used it wisely in the ubersweet Marie Antoinette!
