It has always been a part of our lives, timeless and classy, but the tailored pantsuit is making a strong fashion statement this year. From the Red Carpet to casual, smart wear, you don’t need a formal pretext to get your tailored pantsuit out of the closet!
We last talked about all all-white outfit for this season’s hot trends and now it’s time to join the dark side of fashion with Jennifer Connelly in black Saint Laurent outfit (head to toes). Starring in Noah gained her a lot of attention (controversy as well) and she was recently photographed alongside her daughter on a casual sunny day: Jennifer Connelly was stunning in a black pantsuit!

What was she wearing, you might ask: ‘Le Smoking’ jacket from Saint Laurent paired with tailored skinny suit pants, equally from Saint Laurent, bow georgette blouse (also Saint Laurent) and kitten heels patent leather black shoes – you guessed it, also from Saint Laurent!
Although looking modern and classic at the same time, Jennifer chose items designed by Hedi Slimane for the fashion house formally known as Yves Saint Laurent (Rive Gauche). I’m always looking up at Jennifer Connelly as she seems to master the art of style with effortless elegance and this time it’s no different, her outfit is something I’d love to wear as it identifies with my style outlines.

There is one observation, though: which runs through the bank, of course! The iconic Le Smoking jacket worn by Jennifer costs almost $3,000, the very elegant pants are $850, the lavaliere blouse is $10 short of $1,300 while the pumps are $795. So if you want to wear the exact same outfit as Jennifer Connelly, it will cost you at least $6,000! Now the good thing about trends du jour is that they can also be found in more than just exclusive boutiques. The first thing that crossed my mind was Mango and the suits & blouses I’ve seen in a lookbook that will not set you back more than $300 and a pair of patent ankle strap shoes from H&M with a $35 price tag. Actually I think the pants on Jennifer Connelly are ill fitted ( a way too long ??), but they do look gourgeous at the runway.
For once I agree that the high street versions look very good ( and Mango is Spanish, YAY!!! ). That blouse is to die for.
Just love the Mango blouse! We have a Mango shop in my home town. Must pay a visit while it’s still there.
Jennifer’s pants are indeed ill fitted, very ill fitted. Good to see the high heels are back. If you get my drift ;)
Was out yesterday trying support the economy ;) but I got to say it was a bit annoying to see these black suits literally everywhere.
{Ahhh, that blouse is only €34,95 :) }
Ana, I understand your perspective on the pants – they do look a bit too long, and Adriana noticed it as well – what got me thinking they were ok like this, is that the draped look gives them a more casual feel.. (if she belted those pants, I’m certain they wouldn’t hang like this) It’s just my opinion, and I’m certain that tailored pants don’t have to drape around the ankles to look good, but since I almost always wear my tailored wide-legged pants with sneakers, they drape a lot :)
I’m so happy you liked that Mango blouse, ladies! I discovered an affinity I hadn’t had before with this label – maybe their extended online boutique is the reason why! lol And yes, Adriana, those black suits are everywhere! I’m planning to take advantage of this and find the right cut that would look right on me and buy a good suit to keep for years on.
I tried the Mango blouse last Saturday in the shop. There was one last piece in my size. But alas the polyester fabric made me sweat and irritates my skin. I knew it right away but had to try it anyway….. I couldn’t stand it since it looked great on me, :((
Although I would have removed the white buttons on the sleeve cuffs and change for black buttons. ;)
Saw a nice jacket as well but the retail girls looked annoyed since it was almost closing time.
what I feared most – almost whenever I like something of theirs (Mango) , I need to leave it be when I read the ‘ingredients list’ lol
Maybe the jacket will prove better, then?
Ah, plenty of people don’t have a sensitive skin as I have. Same with bad wool. I feel like I’m electrocuted or something. Once I knitted the cutest jumper and cardigan from mohair wool. I wore cotton T-s under both but nope, it didn’t help, I so tried to wear these pieces. Nope, so I made someone else happy with the hand knitted garments.
It’s me and my overly sensitive redhead skin…..that blouse is cute and stylish and even ageless. .;)
then we both have over-sensitive skin (flashnews lol) I get the same rash when wearing wool… And polyester makes me sweat like nothing else. For the same reason, I can’t wear that super tech fiber they make fitness apparel from – I dislike the plastic feeling against my skin… Cotton and linen is all I can wear! And some types of wool, but not on my (bare) arms!
