Did you have time to catch up with the latest happening in entertainment in fashion this week? My schedule was so packed, I had to sift through everything and I thought maybe others like me would enjoy my top 3 news-of-the-week roundup!
{1} Beyonce Launched a New Album!
Most important, most unexpected, most dazzling drop of the year! Every other artist (think Lady Gaga or Katy Perry) made such a glorious fuss of their new albums and associated artwork (videos, album covers) while Queen Bee just released her ‘Beyonce’ album on iTunes. (dang!)
14 new songs and 17 new videos with nothing short of otherworldly teasers were gracefully bestowed upon the world last night (Thursday, December 12th) around midnight. One video preview is of particular interest for the fashion population as it features Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn!

Oh! and she’ll be also releasing a new perfume next year, Beyonce Rise! This is technically her third fragrance, her previous ones – Heat and Pulse havin been declined in 3-4 editions each (Pulse, Pulse Summer Edition, Pulse NYC; Heat, Heat Ultimate Elixir, Heat Rush, Midnight Heat, Heat Mrs Carter Show)
{2} Kristen Stewart Is Chanel’s New Spokesperson!
Twilight was not Kristen Stewart’s career twilight as well! After being a muse for Balenciaga during the Ghesquiere years, Kristen Stewart was just appointed by Der Kaiser to lead Chanel’s next advertising campaigns.

The announcement was made in Dallas, when Karl Lagerfeld presented a grandiose Chanel collection praised by everyone. Who’s anyone. Or so they think.
However, the fashion-worthy launch was ‘The Return’ – another one of Lagerfeld’s oddly sterile fashion movies about Chanel and whatnot. The revelation of the short movie was Geraldine Chaplin! Daughter of the grand Charlie Chaplin, Geraldine was the reason I actually watched and enjoyed (what? I literally drooled over her energy and performance) this Chanel video below!
{3} Erykah Badu for Givenchy!
If it weren’t for Geraldine Chaplin, this would’ve been my second most important news of the week! Erykah Badu is such an inspiration and Riccardo Tisci is always breaking through the clichés of fashion and uptight perspective on the world (he actually discovered Joan Smalls, not to mention Maria Borges who’s also a star in the campaign! Next to Erykah in this preview release is Riley). The campaign was photographed by Mert Allas and Marcus Piggot and will break in print in February 2014.

I love that Eryka is the new face for Givenchy! I sent you a link via facebook about this too Kpriss! : )
This is a step forward in a wonderful direction!
Beyonce’s new album is interesting in parts, I like her video with her little daughter, and it is way nifty to see Joan. Chanel and Jourdan in the video as well!
As for KStew, she does not interest me and nor does her being the face of Chanel.
I know, Erykah is a wonderful way to rethink fashion for the ‘now’ generation! I like Tisci’s thinking more and more each day! (couldn’t cope with Amanda Seyfried, but I’m not the ‘usual fashion suspect’ either lolz)
I think it’s a new thing from Beyonce! And boy, did I like how she dropped this entire album out of nowhere! Bam! take that Gaga! (mean me laughing inside )
nah, not in a million years! But Lagerfeld is trying so hard to be ‘new’ and ‘modern’ that it often ends up being a complete flop. But Geraldine? Have you see her in ‘The Return’? glorious!
