You know I’ve had my rages with Melissa’s plastic shoes. And even though I admire and respect the designers who worked with the legendary Brazilian shoes brand, I still don’t see myself wearing plastic sandals… I used to wear jelly shoes in my young years and as much as I liked the designs and felt really comfortable in them, they really didn’t keep their fancy looks after some wearing.
The plastic started to become foggy and unpolished. Unlike leather that tends to look better with age, plastic tends to lose face. But that doesn’t bother me when it comes to kids shoes. Children don’t wear their shoes the next season. It’s a one season shoes affair with the kids. In the best of cases!
So I’m ok with jelly shoes for the summer! Although the charming looks of these Mini Melissa jelly shoes by Vivienne Westwood would make me care for them more than I should, I know one little princess who’d love to wear them! Especially since they look like the perfect answer to her love for flowers and my love for pink! (currently available at Selfridges for $100. Spicy, I know, but they’re Vivienne Westwood original!)
