McQueen’s Savage Beauty Exhibit Goes Home To London

There’s no telling when the exact date is, but what we know so far is that a petition has been made to bring the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition home, in London, and it was a success!

The so far Met – hosted honorary exhibition McQueen Savage Beauty will get a London show space. There are still some planning reserves – the time and the duration of the exhibit being yet unknown, however, the couture house will make the official announcements when things will get clear. I guess everyone should feel grateful for that said petition, then!

The UK has a lot to be deservedly proud of. The events that have and are about to come about put the overdue spotlight all that the UK has given the world and should be held up with pride. In fact, recent news indicated that London is now the top global fashion capital.

It is because the UK has shared their gifts with the world that only helps the world to recognize the genius that comes from its shores. To herald these and nurse the pride of the people should be encouraged. Sharing the beauty that started in London is what has contributed to London’s return to fame as the top fashion city of the world. To support measures for anything less would be a travesty.

McQueen’s impact on fashion is immense and his creative vision is powerful. He is our generation’s Dior regarding creativity while respecting and integrating history into his design. His creative volume is in line with that of Picasso.

During his life, McQueen had conveyed to the media his desire to spread his vision throughout the world, taking his collection to the public via a live streaming broadcast. He mused the concept of showcasing his collections via hologram stations the world after enjoying success with such technology demonstrated in the “Widows of Culloden” presentation. Does this sound like someone who would want his work hoarded only in one place?

The world could benefit tremendously by affording others the chance to see his craft. It would open the eyes of many who, only through seeing directly, could get not only how great he was but what the UK puts forth. An infographic recently posted at Mashable.com says 65% of all social media in the past month related to the royal wedding has come from the US; this is further proof that a world-wide exposure of talent that comes from the UK, in this case in the form of a Alexander McQueen exhibition on tour, would be ultimately beneficial to the UK as well as to the countless thousands in other cities that would culturally benefit from seeing this mastery in person.

So far, the McQueen camp is supporting the McQueen exhibition to travel, beginning with London, and it should be noted that there was already a petition circulating to bring the Savage Beauty exhibit on a worldwide tour. It is likely that the option of having this travel to other cities can’t be far behind although, as in this situation, they cannot disclose anything yet until plans are confirmed.

If you wish to support anything, let’s support not only the exhibition to come home but more so to have it tour (the petition is here). It would be fair to at least let those in a culture with a history of democratic support be informed that there are two choices regarding the degree of support. Either way, both satisfy the need to, at the least, bring McQueen “home”.
