From what I see, there’s an entire controversy on whether Lady Gaga should or should have not received the CFDA Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Celebrating the excess and the madness of doing whatever for the sake of entertaining, Lady Gaga is the perfect portrait of today’s performer. Crowning her as a CFDA Fashion Icon is finally admitting that fashion and celebrity go together like horse and carriage. Plus, even Nicole Kidman received this award, why wouldn’t Gaga? (photo via)

I understand why Lady Gaga and her wardrobe receive so much attention. However, I wouldn’t classify what she wears as fashion. More so, I would think it should be categorized as theater, costume design and, I am sure in her own eyes, performance art. I do not think of her as a fashion icon for these exact reasons.
Some designers were interviewed at CDFA red carpet. They were asked how they would dress up Gaga. Jason Wu, love him already but now even more replied: “I would like to dress her in something normal for a change.” Or something like that! LOLs!
