Beyonce Says Girls Run The World

Every now and then, we allow ourselves to get caught up in the modern music crossfire and accept that, still, music videos make fashion (and more) go round.

It’s one of the most powerful ways to communicate, and, today, ladies and gents, we are going to enjoy a good Beyonce moment! Because she has this new video and this catchy phrase: Run the world (Girls). So who runs the world? Girls! (yes, I know you are tempted to say Beyonce, but let’s stick to the story now!) Take a look at the video below and let’s break it down, gently, after!

I only featured this for the pure and simple pleasure of being hype. Of being in the moment, musically speaking. I’m always on an alternative, retro – electro path so I find it pretty refreshing to have Beyonce steal the spotlight for a moment. She’s such a hardworking girl and even if I don’t always approve or understand her fashion choices, her influence is beyond dubitable and this is what fascinates me.

Now for a little facts check: directed by Francis Lawrence (I am Legend) and wrote by (among others) Beyonce and Nash, this is yet another one of Bee’s female empowerment music messages. You gotta love Beyonce for that, she’s always trying to tell women that they own it / rule it. It was premiered on April 21th (2011) and ever since, Beyonce’s Girls Run The World indeed. Musically. How about the fashion? The apocalyptic fashion of the video? Designs from Alexander McQueen, Pucci, Alexander Wang, Givenchy and more, it’s a fashion week in its own right! I’ll just say this: if I were to choose between Beyonce and Gaga, I will definitely go for the first, I always get the distinct impressions that she’s enjoying the music, she’s all about entertainment as for Gaga – her take – me – seriously is slowly getting on my nerves. It’s music, ya’ll! Just enjoy it?

I prefer Beyonce way more than Gaga! MOS DEF!
This video is fun to watch but I find the tune is rather disconnected for me. : )

yay for Bee!

I read somewhere that people are already asking if there’s more to Lady Gaga than her costume show… It would appear she’s just a normal human being underneath all that, so no controversy, no nada. Just the theatrics. Sad. At least Beyonce doesn’t pretend to be anything other than she is.

the tune is… strange? Military-ish in a veeeery strange way!

I have an overdose of both performers for different reasons. So Lady Gaga is sad? I see and Bee is all herself and pretends nothing? What do we really know about this? I never seen Beyoncé making fun of herself; Gaga did. That is one point for Gaga then.
I don’t like this video, I don’t like the song, I don’t like the ‘fashion show’ (it is a bit too much for me) and I don’t like the censored middle finger. She did it so show it. It is obvious anyway.

I don’t get the resemblance with Lady Gaga here either? I have to give Beyoncé credits for her longevity something Gaga has to proof yet. Beyoncé is the better singer and she deserves her Millennium Billboard Award and all the praises from her peers some days ago also from Gaga and even Michelle Obama. So here are my wholeheartedly congratulations to Beyoncé for what she has achieved with her hard work and her gift; her great voice.

Ah, this weekend I found an article on the website of the UK´s Guardian which is exactly my sentiment. I like Beyoncé´s to listen and dance too at time but….well, for those whom are interested read this:

Adele lead the way, go girl!!

Oh, I loooove Adele! Not long ago, just when she released her second album, people were already dooming it, saying it wasn’t nearly as powerful as the first and that Adele had lost her spark!

Listening to songs from the said album I realized there was something else going on since the songs were amazing and not only she had the same overwhelming talent, but she also matured and felt so much better, so much stronger! I love her and her music!

Thank you, ajginger for the article! It’s refreshing to see people standing up for what they believe in! And comparing her to Prodigy was, though, completely unexpected, a very interesting and appropriate perspective!

@mdhinah – did you see “The Other Guys”? I won’t be a spoiler if you didn’t, but what you just said (about jumping off of buildings) totally got me thinking about “The Other Guys”! It didn’t get too many stars on imdb, but it was funny.

We should do Adele one day ;) !

Glad you liked the article. I love Adele. Both the albums. Let’s do Adele one day and Anouk? ;) :)
