Tattoos And Fashion

I thought I’ve been writing my way around tattoos enough but still there’s room for yet another tattoos and fashion article! This one has been brought to my Inbox attention (thanks, Tim).

I’m sure you’re already familiar with the absolute tackiness of allover branding. The stubborn way of logos sticking to our wardrobe as a warning sign skin deep fashion connaisseurs has now found a way to slip itself under our skin.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Tattoo

Even though I am completely appalled by the bad taste and undisputed kitsch-iness of getting a LV tattoo on your wrist or wearing the interlocked CC across your chest, fashion logos tattoos are an evergrowing reality. But what does it say about the wearer of such a logo tattoo? That (maybe) he/she is a devoted fan or that a logo tattoo costs less than a buying an actual logo-ed product from the respective brand?

Chanel Logo Tattoo

I’m unaware of what convinced those who really chose a fashion brand related to ink themselves accordingly and I hope the proud bearer of such an affiliation sign will come forth and share his/her motivation and experience with us! But until then, let me bow down to the audacity of getting a brand tattoo! From Chanel to Lacoste, there’s room for everyone and everybrand!

Marc Jacobs Tattoo Jason Preston

There’s also a special way to scream your fashion addiction to the world: with couture-inspired tattoos! Stilettos, sewing machines, bows, platforms or vintage mannequins, your skin can be your business card! Too bad going out of business and getting your business out of your skin are such delicate and tricky operations! (via)

The logos are just bizarre to me. I mean, brand loyalty is great, but seriously. Would someone get GAP tattooed across their back? No. This is all about status somehow.

The shoes and bows and sewing machines? Those make more sense to me. Those are indicators of interest in style, fashion, creation, clothing … not a single brand.

“Love” for fashion has gone over the top. Sal has yet made all the right points. I don’t have a tattoo and I don’t want any ever especially since a tattoo has nothing to do with individuality anymore. Not in my view anyway.
I was kind of charmed with the sewing machine. But I can handle the sewing machine and it’s been important in my life.

Right, it’s about status but in a tacky way. Tacky, tacky, tacky, ugh…….it won’t be long and I’m anti fashion but my love for clothing et al shall go on. There’s a difference these days I believe…..bah!

LOL recently they had to remove a logo from my new shades! They wouldn’t tell how they do it……grrrrrr…..the horror of logos…..

(Great topic!!)

people who get brand logos are freaky people. They only do it for the image, they dont care about the aesthetics of the brand or even what it is about, its just all in the superficial world of ignorant people who think that that fashion is a glamourous world of beautiful rich people, but that is not even what fashion is about. Fashion is what coco chanel, cristobal balenciaga, and other famous fashion designers created, not consumerism.

Kookiekandy, hmm, you’ve some points there……

I’d notice some pictures of La Moss on holiday with the same RayBan as I have. Only RayBan has the habit to put that logo on one of the glasses. I HATE that and that’s what I’ve let it removed. Their logo on the sides are small, there are no shades anymore without them so I can live with that. But not on the glass! So if Kate wants a tip from me, I know now how to remove it! I couldn’t find rest until I found out about it. So up to some neutral RayBan Aviators! Yay!

By the way, we have a new “trend: robbing expensive shades from someones face! Same overseas? That’s the other side of the coin of this logo status symbol. Please let it go away…please…labels inside has to come back. That’s normal. In my view at least….

I don’t think Kate wants a tip from us. . . .

I think Kate doesn’t want tips from anybody… but that’s Kate business. We just take the $$ out of it and keep the fun, right?

I’m in fashion design and I have a tattoo of a chain-link bracelet with a Chanel logo charm. This is not because I’m a label whore, nor does it fully represent the brand of Chanel; it is my ode to fashion. Chanel is an inspiration to all fashion all over the world and is highly respected (almost 100 years later), has created a full life-style for women, and continues to grow and set expectations for the fashion industry of the future – in short:

before you judge someone by their tattoo, know their story.

I am actually thinking of getting the chanel logo on my wrist. yes i love fashion and the chanel brand but!, my reasons for wanting this tatt is a tribute to coco chanel herself. i see her life story as very inspirational and from studying her triumphs in not only the fashion world but her beliefs that woman or people should not have to be as they are “expected” to be in this society, i just find her a personal inspiration to me… i think people should tattoo whatever they want on their body… its their body and their reasons.. and although you may not understand, but fashion can mean everything to someone… not in a “status” way that you put it, but it really can be someones life interest, it can be the only reason why they work to earn money… i really think you should let people do what they want to their body. After all, this article has been posted so that you and your opinion can be notice has it not? let people express themselves how ever and with whatever they choose
