There was a time when toting your branded paper bag around was truly fancy work. The Kaiser knew that when he showed us his Spring Summer 2009 Collection with those Chanel paper-like bags!
Now it seems that the economy has brought branded paper bags to shame and people don’t feel the same superiority and snobbish pride they used to when they walk around with their luxurious paper bags.
Net-A-Porter felt that wind of change and made available a new type of discrete service: you can either choose the luxurious black Net-A-Porter paper bags or the Discreet Packaging for New Yorkers – recycled brown paper bags! Meaning, after the Net-A-Porter standard, discreet equals eco-conscious, right? (via)

Well, I guess they had to make SOME sort of marketing ploy to keep themselves relevant in an anti-luxury climate …
There was a time…..one of my beloved songs of the moment…..anyway this about packages.
Sal had made a very good point yet. I agree.
Yes, there seems to be an excess luxury backlash, and people are wishing to be more discreet with their purchases.
