Wrapping up this wonderful 2013 Oscars night, I’d like you to join me for a couple of conclusive stories. I’ll start with the negative, so I can get it out of the way and concentrate and the beautiful things!

Like many fanciful events, the 2013 Oscars Red Carpet had its share of beauties but also a good slice of meh-s as well. And sifting through some of the most unimpressive, uninspired looks of the night, I think I came up with some representative examples of Red Carpet fashion fails at the 2013 Oscars!

Stella Tennant In Couture For WSJ

I’m always amazed by some people’s timeless quality. Be it through their work or their features, they ignore the passing of time, defying numerous changes of fashions and seasons and keeping strong, just being who they are. Stella Tennant, I think, is one of those above – time people.

Her couture pictorial for The Wall Street Journal is unquestionably modern and contemporary, but there’s something about those images, something that seems from times passed. Photographed by Daniel Jackson and styled by Tina Laakkonen, Stella is wearing amazing Haute Couture pieces. I loved the details provided within the pictorial – for instance, the Givenchy Haute Couture dress totals thirty – eight yards of satin and was made in 480 hours. (click through to discover more)

The Precious 2012 Oscars Red Carpet Dresses

So: we’ve seen pretty much every major dress moment from the 2012 Oscars Red Carpet. What main trend did we notice when we drew the fashion line and made the style count? Precious! Precious dresses reigned supreme on the Oscars Red Carpet this year! Having doubts? Stay with me, I’ll take you trough a very precious journey, then!

Sequins and beads, precious embroidery and metallic dresses, it was all meant to steal the eye and charm the glam fashion hearts of whoever watched the event this year. We talked about Meryl Streep’s dress, Stacy Keibler’s tin foil gown, white sequined Elie Saab worn by Milla Jovovich; we even mentioned the power pale couple: Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz and we were amazed by Jessica Chastain’s McQueen dress or Octavia Spencer’s lucky charm designer, Tadashi Shoji. Let’s take it further, after the jump! (or jump to see the gallery here)

2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Black Dresses

The safe choice for evening wear, the queen of all dresses, the Little Black Dress (shorter or longer, simpler or more intricate) was a sure bet for the 2012 edition of the Golden Globe Awards.

Not as numerous as the white-ish, pale neutrals, soft gowns we talked about earlier, the black dresses were equally gorgeous, maybe even more interesting, fashion wise, than the rest. My favorite was, of course, Meryl Streep. A fashion winner, not just a Golden Globe winner! (she took home the Golden Globe for the Best Actress Award for her interpretation in the Iron Lady – once again, Anna Wintour picks the winners for Vogue’s cover) She’s wearing Alessandra Rich, and even if it was a bed sheet or table cloth or both, all I know is that it’s totally her, it suits her, it looks amazingly comfortable and she may wear whatever she pleases, she’ll still be the great Meryl Streep! (I realize I may be all alone in my corner while the entire world is casting fashion stones at Meryl’s dress choice for last night). The story continues right after the jump (you can click here for the gallery!)

The White Oscars Dresses 2009

This year’s Red Carpet at the 81th Academy Awards Ceremony was, in fact, white! There’s maybe something in the air, something that made the ladies attending the glamorous event, wear white dresses!

I doubt that’s the recession, it’s like the ladies felt a marriage breeze around the Shrine Auditorium, like they all wanted to be 2009 Oscars Brides tonight. The Oscars Red Carpet, is, however, renowned for being not just the Kodak Theatre promenade for movie stars but for being the World’s most talked about catwalk! (don’t miss the rest of the pictures right after the jump!)

Songe De Robes

Underwater pictures are officially a serious trend in photography. And especially French (fashion) Photography. This time is haute couture sans models going underwater.

Giorgio Armani Prive, Maurizio Galante, Chanel Haute Couture, Givenchy Haute Couture, Christian Lacroix Haute Couture underwater for Stiletto Magazine. I am fascinated by the textures and the colors developed in this kind of photo session. It’s almost magical. It’s Haute Couture Underwater. What’s your favorite? (I’d go for the Armani bouquet – click pictures to see larger images)

Adidas Rod Laver Vintage Lux Joins The 2008 Sneaker Trend

I wonder why all those gorgeous ladies populating the Red Carpet don’t get a look at what’s happening with the trends!

They should really try out some sneakers next time they take the Armani on show! Adidas is preparing a new release for 2008 , the sneakers year – Adidas Rod Laver Vintage Lux. With this impossible name and snakeskin upper I’d go anywhere but near it… And still, who knows – do you find it nice? Stylish?
