Lagerfeld’s Chanel Ballerina Criticized!

Remember Karl Lagerfeld’s Tutu extraordinaire? It turns out it wasn’t quite that extraordinaire after all!

Reviews are pouring in and it’s thunder and lightning from the critics! Raging from “feathered neck brace” (the Daily Telegraph), to the performance’s “fake note” (The Guardian), the Swan Lagerfeld doing seems to be “broken by an egregious, fluffy ruff” and “the waistline broken by a too-high skirt”. The Kaiser should better come forth and represent! (via, photos via)

What can I say? A costume design for ballet is something else it’s a different craftmanship than fashion design. It’s not entirely Karl’s fault. The ballet company could have say “no” to the designs. The dancers could have complained too…..in fact the ballet company should have seen these faults too…..

The tutu is amazing as a showpiece , is not up to the couture house to make sure a ballerina can use it.

It looks lovely but of course is it dance wearable? That should always be the crux of the matter. But then sometimes some of the items that designers create are not realistically wearable for most women. Maybe the Kaiser will have his “double” Wee Kaiser the Bear take questions on this matter? Maybe he will say that he designed the tutu? ;)
