When you’re a celeb, you have to take every side of your personality into consideration (financial consideration). Gwen Stefani started with No Doubt and went on solo to claim all the stage glory for her. When her solo career took off, her inner designer/fragrance maker self was unleashed too.
After turning herself into an entertaining entity, Gwen went straight for a brand association with her public persona. Love, Angel, Music, Baby, her first solo album (2004) is also the name of her brand: L.A.M.B. Since LAMB’s coming out five years have already gone by and here’s Gwen’s Fall/Winter 2009/2010, her fifth collection! (the story continues right after the jump with more images!)
I don’t know how much from this collection is Gwen’s doing, but she surely claims to be 100% her work. Given that she has a history of collaborating with Zaldy Gogo, a NY-based designer (who, coincidentally, has a wolf as brand logo) and Andrea Lieberman (celebrity stylist extraordinaire), it’s kinda hard to believe Gwen Stefani’s inner designer talents authenticity. Do you think there’s more than just a name on the label for Gwen Stefani’s LAMB? (via)

I’m sure Gwen had help since she has no fashion education? But I like L.A.M.B. and Gwen and always has.
Nice No Doubt is back together though it will be not the same thing. So I better “Don’t Speak” further?
Hard to say. She’s got fantastic style, but who knows if that translates into design ability? Regardless, I always love the pieces …
I love Gwen. Her solo albums, perfumes, and her clothing line.
She does have fantastic style, and she always looks comfortable in no matter what she wears. I think that she may have style discussions with the designers that she works with, because I can see her influence in the clothes. Oh and this new collection is lovely! I love all of it!
[…] Sources reveal the first samples of her new, fifth collection for the brand. […]
Gwen used to sew her own clothes as a teen. She is inspired by things around her and of course if your working with others on your label you will be influenced. I am a designer and I can tell this is her own work
Yes, that’s how the love starts: sewing your own clothes. My doll(s) were my first “victims”. Then for myself, then for a friend and the ball start rolling on……
Shteminx I do believe you (btw, congrats! where can we see your designs? I so love young designers! Maybe you could send me something to feature in the Dare to Wear section?) and I wish I could be as convinced as you are. As you know, celeb-designer is a tricky business. One that involves mostly the label and marketing actions around that label.
Adriana, oh how I envy you girls! I wish I could have magic hands, like you! I have a pile of short skirts I don’t wear anymore (too short, too frilly for mum-of-three that I am) and I would like to transform those into dresses for my baby girl! I see the project developing in my mind but when it comes to really doing it…arghhhhh
I’ve always called myself, despite my fashion education, a great seamstress with the right ideas or something like that. Customize clothes, like you want to do Kpriss, got me through poor times looking good! Like when I was at school so I could improve myself even more.
I’ve never told you here that a friend of mine works part-time for Viktor&Rolf did I? We had our education at the same time. I’m happy for her but sometimes….arrgghhh….they phone her when they need extra hands. I type this with a smile so don’t worry, I’m not an envious woman. I’ve asked her if it was allowed I tell this here and she said “Yes, but no details”. So no details….:D
