Lily Cole Ethnic Kaftan Look

I always loved ethnic clothes. They have a way to stop time and prevent fashion to take over and pervert your every style pore.

When I saw this picture of Lily Cole wearing an earth-toned kaftan I immediately thought about sharing with you and asking how you feel about this kind of clothing. I also have to confess Lily is a very dear fashion-figure. She looks so different and refreshingly natural, I just can’t help it! What do you think?

I love Lily and the dress or the dress and Lily….a lovely and comfortable look for summer and yes, natural and fresh.

I don’t believe this is a designer caftan. Looking at it, I believe she got it from a Yemeni or Somali shop or market stall, probably in London as these dresses are pretty endemic there. I recognise the type of print and the way this caftan has been constructed right away; and the fact it is long enough for her tells me it cannot be an Indonesian or Malaysian version as these are only made to 52″ long which for a supermodel would only just about hit the calf. It isn’t the nicest design; the company I believe this is made by do some really funky and retro designs in a lot more flattering colours; if you mooch around certain areas of London you can get them for as little as £4 on their own, or £8-£10 with a matching shawl with sparkly trim and fringe.
