Hermes – Un Jardin apres la Mousson
February 26th, 2008 by kpriss
Because this site is about personal experience, today I wanted to share yet another one with you.
And this time it’s about a perfume – Hermès “Un Jardin après la Mousson”. Few years back I went a lot with floral scents and one of my perfumes at the time was “Un Jardin en Mediterannée” – quite special, I would say, and refreshing (especially in summertime). It was a scent came from a two-series, the second one was named “Un Jardin sur le Nil”. Now I find out they added a third one, and I was curious what it’s like.
The official announcement said it’s about a region in India named Kerala, renowned for its spices:
“In India, your senses are arrested everywhere, you have a desire for calm. This was the idea of après la Mousson. While India abounds in colors and noise, with this fragrance, one has a moment of rest.”
So how about it? Have you had any experience with the “Jardin” series? Or maybe you just got the idea to try them out now?

Tilda Swinton Photographed by Raymond Meier
February 25th, 2008 by kpriss
I remember Tilda’s appearance in Constantine, one of the movies I keep close to my heart. I couldn’t decide if I liked her, disliked her or completely hated her.
My feelings were far from being positive on her. She looked convincingly detestable to me but in a catchy kind of way. However, it was the fashion involvement that got me all wondering about what’s cooking in Tilda Swinton’s head.
Marion Cotillard in Jean-Paul Gaultier for 2008 Oscar Night
February 25th, 2008 by kpriss
Pretty like a siren! I guess French women do have a certain charm and an unspoken beauty that sparkles more than any bling.
Marion Cotillard chose a Jean-Paul Gaultier dress from the Spring-Summer 2008 Couture Collection. Keeping the accessories to a minimum, Marion looked like a fairy tale figure, all modest and perfectly matched, with loose waves on a side and a disarming smile. Congrats, Marion, for your Oscar! (she won for the leading role in “La vie en rose”)
What do you say?
Is she not a rare pearl on that black red carpet? Or it’s too fishy for your sense of style?
Jessica Alba in Marchesa at the 80th Oscar Ceremony
February 25th, 2008 by kpriss
Talking about feathers at this 80th edition of the Annual Academy Award, I thought I should also bring you the “good”, not only the “bad”.
Pretty round mum-to-be Jessica Alba made a very good choice for the big night – a purple strapless dress signed Marchesa for the Fall 2008 Ready to Wear Collection. Pretty purple, pretty accessorized, Jessica made quite a look with this gown.
Even if those feathers look like she would have stuffed a bunch of Christmas decoration to make her décolleté more generous, they do kinda belong and fit marvelously with the rest of the dress.
What do you think? She matched the dress with a Grecian style hairdo – is that a match made in heaven? Or she would have pulled it off far better with the trendy red-carpet updo to match this beautiful dress?

Tilda Swinton Black Dress on the 80th Academy Award Red Carpet
February 24th, 2008 by kpriss
I had some kind of great expectations when Tilda Swinton was involved. Looking at these pictures just makes me wonder what was she thinking when leaving the hotel room with this dress!
I remember a friend’s dog-couch looking just like this – tired, torn on the sides, with no attitude whatsoever except a dark fatigué fabric reminding everyone that once was a noble velvet there, somewhere… What do you think? Is Tilda edgy but classy as usual? Or she just had her fashion disaster like anyone else?

Penelope Cruz Black Feathered Dress at the 80th Oscar Ceremony
February 24th, 2008 by kpriss
Besides the fact that 70% of the dresses was overwhelmingly black at the 80th Annual Academy Award Ceremony, I have to show you something (at least) interesting so you can appreciate with your own eyes.
Feathered dresses! The one that looked completely stunning (and that is not meant in a good way!) I think it was Penelope Cruz! So, My Award for the most nature-blending gown goes to Penelope! What do you think? Are those feathers growing in the wrong direction? Or are those feathers just wrong?
Shoes Obsession – Christian Louboutin Snakeskin Stilettos
February 24th, 2008 by kpriss
Haven’t had a crush on a pair of shoes for quite some time, now. I found this pair yesterday when strolling around the internet and I completely fell for!
It’s a pair of Christian Louboutin Stilettos. I don’t know what made this pair so special and why this particular one hit me more than others, but I guess the picture is more evocative than my descriptions. I usually don’t go for this kind of overrated-priced-shoes or made from “precious” materials (like these python shoes).
However, I have to ask for your help in finding these shoes. I looked around for info over the internet but couldn’t find anything relevant. So if you know something about them (including the name, price) feel invited to share, who knows, maybe I’ll give in to this shoes obsession…
Update: Thanks to our reader Stacey Leigh I found out that they’re called “Declic” and cost app. $1400 (and still beautiful).
Pregnant Angelina Jolie at 2008 Independent’s Spirit Awards
February 23rd, 2008 by kpriss
I know, I know, it’s a cliché! And I’m aware of that baby-bump watch frenzy!
And I still can’t help it! Here it goes – another picture of Angelina’s Red Carpet Appearances. She’s all in black (except for Brad) and sporting a huuuuuuge baby bump! If rumors are true, she’s pregnant with twins (and judging from her “suffering” look, she’d be about 4 months along now, the twins factor explaining the very important baby bump she has) so we’ll get to watch a lot of her preggie-style over the summer.
I don’t know if it’s an obsession or anything, but when you were pregnant, didn’t you experience a kind of sisterhood-like feeling relating you to all the baby-bumps in the world? I feel like that, every pregnancy I have.
At first I thought it was just an impression, a newbie thing. But then it came back, the overwhelming sudden need to hug every passing pregnant woman. (it may sound strange, but I do behave, you know?).
If you were there, please write back! It will only help me from imposing myself a cerebral restraining order to keep away from all those pregnant sisterhood thoughts, or else it would just grow that sorority even more (and soon it will take over the world, beware!)
