Freida Pinto Is The Vanity Girl In Vanity Fair March 2009

Freida Pinto is not just a lovely young woman with a great smile and (still) untouched by the Hollywood standards! She was one of the main characters from this year movie sensation Slumdog Millionaire, but hardly that important!

Given that almost the entire movie, her co-star Dev Pattel was amazing (not to mention the children who played the main characters when they were young!), people’s obsession with Freida is slightly strange. (the story continues after the jump)

Freida’s character, Latika, has nothing to do with the current Vanity Girl role. She was selected to be in the Vanities section of Vanity Fair Magazine: a rising acting-star portrayed in a pinup shot (by Micaela Rossato). She’s doing a great job both aesthetically and geographically since she’s showing the Indian side of the globe…

She admits herself that Bombay was one of the characters from Slumdog Millionaire. Such a directorial masterpiece in distributing poverty without being choking or over-dramatical! (If you’ve seen the movie-) Do you think she was that important in Slumdog Millionaire? (If you haven’t seen it yet-) Is she suited for a dream Hollywood career?

I just hope that she does get more roles, and that she does not become the flavour of the moment.
I have not seen the film as yet but I aim to soon.
She kind of reminds me of Eva Longoria a bit. Oh and I think that she is getting most of the attention because she is an attractive young actor and they can promote her sex appeal for more easier than say her male costar.

…..while her male costar is such a nice looking young man…..but that’s how it is. Freida looks lovely. I like Eva Longoria too. I like her smile and I find her funny.
I’ve also not seen Slumdog Millionaire yet. Its here in the cinema’s (just as The Wrestler!) since last Thursday.

Since a few days I think different about Slumdog Millionaire which isn’t a hit in India at all. Due to that afwul caste system.
I’ve seen an item on tv which made me think a lot and it was quite an eyeopener. The poor caste feels offended by the name Slumdog. The people in the slums don’t want to be call dogs. Dogs are very low in India, they are uclean. The higher caste doesn’t wants to see the movie because its about the lower caste….
An angry Indian social worker mocked at “stars who come to see our slums just to get Oscars” and said “Its not even possible for people from the slums to attend such a show or even to buy a lot to win a lottery and become a millionaire. This is a fairy tale for the western world. Not for us, for us its only offensive”. Doiiiinggg….that did hit me hard!
A few weeks ago a young couple in love has been killed in India. They married secretly. She was higher caste, he was lower caste. In this Indian “Romeo and Julia” real life story both have been killed after her family found out about this. Also most off his lower caste family has been killed…….I’m not in a hurry to see the movie now.

Freida Pinto is born in Mumbai and higher caste. Dev Patel is born in London to Indian immigrants. I’m really curious what Freida thinks about this matter. Dev is born in western society but she isn’t plus she’s older than he is.

She’s a beautiful girl.

And can people please stop comparing her to Eva? She’s just Freida, no one else.

To Aulelia re: Everyone stop saying Freida looks a bit like Eva Longoria.

In a word No.

I said, comparing not looks a bit like. Get your words straight.

Yes, I’ve to admit its far more worse to compare women than be called a slumdog!!

And in what way were we comparing Freida to Eva except to say she looks a bit like her?
I think you should read what has been stated before you actually comment.
And I still say No to what you asked, because I in no way see it as an insult. They are both lovely looking women.

I’ve read on this wonderful world wide web that Freida Pinto’s photo has been airbrushed/photoshopped (or whatever) some nuances lighter than she is in real life.
That’s the answer why I didn’t regonise Freida in the first place!
