Don’t Buy A Dress And Win A 2009 SAG Award Like Meryl Streep!

Winning an award when you’re not the most glamorous on the Red Carpet? Yes you can!

The proof is Meryl Streep winning the SAG Award for Best Leading Female Actor (Doubt) in 2009! Her fellow actors and actresses were enchanted by Meryl’s sincere joy receiving her with standing ovations!

Meryl Streep (known to many fashionistas for her role in The Devil Wears Prada) begun her acceptance speech with something unexpected: “wow! I didn’t even buy a dress!” stepping aside and showing her black pants and black blouse. (more after the jump)

But she’s so lovely and funny (you can watch her SAG Award acceptance speech right after the jump) and looking absolutely stunning, I just couldn’t miss writing about her, even if she didn’t bought a dress! Isn’t she beautiful? (photos via celebutopia)

She is beautiful and one of the greatest actresses around. I love the way she looked. But, isn’t it so that designers borrows the dresses, jewellery i.e. for the “red-carpet-show”? And Meryl doesn’t care much for fashion?

Gosh, Meryl and her many great parts…..I try to figure out which one(s) I love the most……Sophie’s Choice, The Bridges of Madison County are definitely on my “list” of all time fave movies. I also admire how she has always kept her private life and work apart. Still married to the same man, mother of four….almost a life to be jealous at. I hope sincerely that this lady will be around for a long time to come!

Kpriss, let’s hope that the they gonna give awards for the best dressed actors on a red-carpet will never come……

Meryl can do whatever she wants!
She is a fantastic actor!
Also I am sure that tonnes of fashion houses will be offering her a dress to wear for the Oscars.
My favourite Meryl movies are The Devil Wears Prada, Sophie’s Choice, Out of Africa,Death Becomes Her, and the silly but it makes me laugh Stuck on You!
She is a wonderful talent.

Ellington, you didn’t like the Bridges of Madison County? With (and by) Clint Eastwood? Gosh…….

No Adriana, I tried to read the book but I couldn’t get through it because of the writing style and I had no desire to see the film version of it despite who was in it.

Ellington, try to rent the dvd if you’re in the mood one day if only for Meryl and Clint…..I hadn’t read the book and still haven’t.
Hmm, this remind of Jane Austen’s books I couldn’t get through any off them but oh, some of the great movies and series that has been made of her books…..

I am not an Austenite either, I am not a big fan of her novels but I have seen the movies my favourite being “Sense and Sensibility” with Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson it was acted so beautifully. I also cannot abide Wuthering Heights. I loath Cathy and Heathcliffe both in book or film form. I prefer the works of George Elliot, Thomas Hardy,Turgenev, Dostoevesky, Gabriel Garcia Marques to name a few of my favourite authors. Maybe one day I will watch “The Bridges of Madison County” but I prefer Clint Eastwood when he is solely a director and not an actor in his films.

I think Meryl Streep looks beautiful even though she did not wear a dress like everyone else. She stood out. And I was so happy when she won for Doubt because that was a great movie and she is my favorite actress.
