Oscars Dresses Infographic
From present days backwards, this is the most beautiful, useful and creative infographic of Oscars Dresses along the years! The Mediarun Digital team behind this project deserves a standing round of ovations as we drool all over the keyboard recollecting memories about the ladies winning the Best Actress Oscar along the years!
Winona Ryder’s Oscar Dress Confession
We’ve seen her high and lows but Winona seems to be a fighter so, after Black Swan, she’s back to stay! Talking about her young years with Red magazine, she also revealed that she has such a huge love for vintage clothing thrifting most of her wardrobe and – get this: ‘I’ve worn dresses to the Oscars that I got for $10’. Oh, we love you more than ever before, Winona!
Tom Ford about Oscars Red Carpet dresses
While admitting he only dresses one single lady for the event, Tom Ford was hardly pleased with the dresses for the almightiest event of the year! He even described to his host, Jimmy Kimmel, the Oscars Red Carpet as being ‘a bubble of 1950s Barbie clothes’, drastically preconceived and different from real-world fashion!

As per usual I will not be watching the Oscars, but I will check back to see the red carpet photos. I am excited to see what Lupita and Cate will be wearing!
Have fun with the show though everyone who will be watching!
I really love that Oscar Dresses Infographic. Great idea. Fun to see when and how slowly the red carpet became more like a fashion show than the entrance of the actors. Some were dressed great others were a hot mess. Which was such fun. Also the show itself was more exciting. Unexpected speeches which cause controversy and such…..:)
Lots of “Unknown” dresses and Jody Foster’s 1989 dress “Off the rack” make me smile. I remember her in that dress, it was our first year watching the Oscars live and we just loved it and we loved her as the winner for her part in The Accused a gripping movie. Saw it again of late and it was still great. Jody is still one of my favourite actors, I miss her.
Ellington, I always find the best view at the dresses is on the red carpet. See the ladies move in their dresses. That says a lot to me. Can imagine though you’re not in the mood….. me neither….. 3,5 hours to go before the red carpet show starts. Well, I see how I feel then. Maybe its a distraction.
To be honest its so not me to not say something like: “I wish someone, if only one actor starts a thunder speech about peace and equality for all people on this earth” …….that’s the most beautiful thing there could be and never has been….
Forgive me…..
Oh, Winona!! Welcome back girl. Yes, she used to look often very lovely on the red carpet and I saw other photos of that shoot. She’s still such a beautiful woman and an underrated actor. I also miss her.
It is nice to see Winona again!
I loved her in her small role as Spock’s mother and of course in Black Swan!
Yes this Oscar winners dress chart is nifty to see, I too remember Jodie Foster’s off the rack dress. She said that after that she has always stuck with Armani and she wears it well. : )
Argh…..JodIE not JodY…….{blushhideblushhide)……:;) :)
Ellington, I love it Katherine Hepburn couldn’t be bothered at all to go the show to accept a statue. I bet you noticed that too. ;)
And the name of the actress who didn’t show up her in 1956 is Anna Magnani not Anna Magnan. (Needs to make up my other dumb Jodie-blunder of course ;) :D ). I just adore Anna Magnani. :)
They did slipped on a few errors but the important thing is that they did an amazing job in documenting all this and releasing it on the internet! So far so good. I’ll be updating with their latest version which includes Cate’s dress as well <3
