Remember the days when teen (musical) movies included Johnny Depp as one of the stars? Cry-Baby? If you haven’t seen it yet, you have to. For Johnny‘s sake!
Thank you for this wonderful week, for your great comments! I hope you have the most amazing weekend yet! For a good retro moment and a healthy dose of old school glamour, enjoy Cry-Baby (Rachel Sweet) with Mr. Jailer! (more info right after the jump!)
If you haven’t seen the movie, I won’t come with spoilers, however, seeing the clip you already imagine how the story comes through. Now if you’ve seen Johnny sing and was impressed by his vocal qualities, think twice – his voice double (for the musical parts) was James Intveld and as for Amy Locane, she was doubled by Rachel Sweet.
Don’t expect a masterpiece, expect just another teen musical only with Johnny Depp. And that makes it rather special. Doesn’t it?

Oh, how I love this film. Wheres the great John Waters these days? Nah, it’s not ‘just another teen musical’. It’s a great John Waters’ film with controversial stars in the cast. This film was the end of Johnny’s ’21 Jump Street’ part. Oh, how I remember the snarly remarks people made I watched it with a passion just because of Johnny…..sighs….and they didn’t get it!! I was so right wasn’t I? Eh, John Waters of course! :D
