Paul McCartney We All Stand Together (Rupert And The Frog Song)

I couldn’t overlook a very special moment I shared with you a year ago: my baby girl was born on April 24th 2008! Hence, this week’s Friday Break comes today because I wanted to celebrate this special day with you, just like I did when I brought her home last year!

Paul McCartney’s We All Stand Together (also known as Rupert and The Frog Song) is a wonderful song written and performed by Sir Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus in 1984. Enjoy! (more about the song and the movie right after the jump!)

Part of an animated film called Rupert and the Frog Song, Paul McCartney’s We All Stand Together was originally released in June 1983 but registered huge success in 1984 and became the biggest selling video of 1985. Being honored with a BAFTA award by the British Academy in 1984, it also received a Grammy Awards nomination in 1986.

Directed by Geoff Dunbar, Rupert and the Frog Song was based on a picture by Alfred Bestall from the Rupert Bear Annual (1958). Paul McCartney wanted to bring Rupert back to live again so he started the Rupert-project in 1970 but finally put it together from 1981 to 1984.

The original record included a Humming version of Rupert and the Frog Song (you can listen to it here). More about the song and the movie here and here.
