Somethin’ Stupid – Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman Vs. Frank & Nancy Sinatra

You already know I’m not a Kidman fan. Au contraire, I find Nicole to be insipid and unconvincing. But I just can’t resist this little piece of retro music!

Robbie Williams duet with Nicole Kidman Somethin’ Stupid is, to me, a very beautiful melody I could listen to anytime and get a good vibe from it. It’s funny, it’s easy, it’s somethin’ stupid but I like it so much! Perfectly Friday Break! (you can read more about the song and plus the very famous Frank & Nancy Sinatra cover version of Somethin’ Stupid right after the jump!)

Though you could be tempted to believe that the original Something Stupid was written by the Sinatras, they only covered the original. Something Stupid was first recorded by C. Carson Parks and Gaile Foote in the mid 60s. They recorded and included the original version of Something Stupid on the album called San Antonio Rose. Soon after, it was recorded by Frank Sinatra with his daughter, Nancy and the duet was a smashing success.

Covered by countless artists over the years, Somethin Stupid is a classic love song, that special breed aging like wine: getting better and better with each passing year. I wish there was a Frank Sr & Nancy Sinatra version available, instead, this was the closest match I could get: Frank Jr singing Somethin’ Stupid with his sister, Nancy Sinatra for a TV show. Kpriss, the Sinatra’s are a great find! Bravo! I know how hard it is these days to find what you want on YouTube. The rules have changed or something like that?

LOL! I know you don’t like Nicole Kidman and calls her the ice-queen. I loved her once a lot….but since she has lost her own face it’s if she lost some important acting skills too. I really did admire her in some older movies before all done.
So I do not snub only at models who has work done, no way, it’s the same feeling!

The last thing that I loved Nicole Kidman in was Moulin Rouge she was lovely as Satine.
But I could swear that you have already posted Robbie and Nicole singing this ditty as a previous Friday break?
At any rate thanks for this Kpriss! :)

Right you are! I completely forgot I wrote about this before! I had it on my playlist this week and got stuck in my head!

I was more focused on finding out the song’s history, digging out the roots of Somethin’ Stupid rather than being amazed solely by Robbie & Nicole’s cover. And I’m glad I did so, now I know more about it than I did back in July! I hope you still liked the song ;)

LOL noticed it too but what does it matter? I’ve some faves on YouTube I’d play every day a few times mostly late at night….

Ellington I agree, Satine was Nicole’s last part that I really loved. While watching Cold Moutain I thought too often: “Ah, I love to dance!”

Off-topic: I’ve watched yesterday a beautiful Danish art-house movie with Connie Nielsen and I’d wonder why this woman has never become a bigger star. She’s so beautiful and really a great actress.
