Are you fascinated by Franca Sozzani’s power over fashion and time? Just like Anna Wintour, Franca has managed to lead Vogue’s editorial office for 25 years and still counting.
Unlike her US counterpart, Franca is always trying to push the boundaries of fashion imagery. She’s always tried to conceptualize this or that strange attitude or place because fashion stories tend to look alike. Models tend to be more uniformly beautiful while photographers can become stuck in routinely photographing the same clothes. Franca Sozzani found her style. And her style and is strong and interesting.
Here are 6 of her golden rules:
{6} Don’t be a follower, take risks! Franca Sozzani has been the editor in chief of Vogue Italia for as long as Anna Wintour has been the editor in chief of Vogue US. She considers strange or ugly people to me more interesting and stronger.
{5} Find a good dermatologist and conceive together creams that work for you and really use them. Franca Sozzani cares a lot about her skin and her hair. While admitting to having considered plastic surgery to smoothen out her skin, she decided against it so she’s faithfully visiting her dermatologist every week for specialty face/body creams. She’s also using argan oil on her skin before the shower.
{4} Find the right balanced shampoo and conditioner for your hair and be consistent in using them. Franca is washing her long natural hair twice a week with a custom-made shampoo and conditioner. Doesn’t dye it yet, but considering it for when the grey hair will outnumber the blond hair. She’s also using Santal Oil for her hair during the hot summer months.
{3} When it comes to makeup, don’t imitate, find what goes with your life routine and your personality and stick with it. Concentrate on either your eyes or your lips. Franca was tipped by Peter Lindbergh to only use dark eye color on the outside of the eye, never on the inner corners. Franca’s eye pencil: Make Up for Ever Crayon Khol in Deep Black. She’s using Benetint on her cheeks and Magic Moroccan Color-Changing Lipstick, a soft pink, on her lips.
{2} Find the right perfume that suits your personality and remain loyal. Franca is oscillating between Chanel No. 5 , Yves Saint Laurent Opium and Armani Prive Oranger Alhambra. And she’d be mixing two of them sometimes.
{1} Don’t be a fashionista, be a person with style. Just as Franca confessed to itg: ‘I like color, I like classics with a twist, I love jewelry, but my style is difficult to put into words. It’s important to feel like yourself.’

Ha, I agree don’t be a follower or a fashionista be yourself. It’s very important to take good care of your skin and your hair. First rules for good style. But alas I do not believe she’s a real blond. Not that I mind that since it looks good, even very nice. :)
You think? She said she’s not dying her hair (yet) so… But you’re right to be suspicious, she’s so blond ;)
At the age of 63? Nah, still natural blond? Blond hair has the habit to get darker and then grey with ageing. Unless you’re an albino. She isn’t obviously not. But then again it doesn’t matter but she shouldn’t lie. She looks fantastic. This blond colour is soft and lovely it suits her so well.
Anyway, she’s indeed a great role model for growing gracefully older. :)
