Colleen Atwood, costume designer extraordinaire, known for her amazing work from Edward Scissorhands to Dark Shadows and now Snow White and the Huntsman, also three – times Oscar winner (until now) opened up about her work with the latest Universal Pictures flick, coming to a theater near you this Friday.
Designing for Charlize Theron (Queen Ravenna), Kristen Stewart (Snow White) and Chris Hemsworth has been a Paris Haute Couture – like adventure, judging by the looks of the sublime intricate embroidery, the myriad of leather sequins and various feathers. (more images after the jump, click here for the gallery!)
Colleen also designed the army’s armored costumes (count some 600 costumes), but the most impressive sartorial work was performed on Queen Ravenna’s dresses, complimented by Cathy Waterman jewelry. She even said, in her wwd interview, that Stewart’s Snow White servant girl’s tunic was made in 25 versions for the special needs of her physical role. Also, Charlize Theron’s movie character needed three versions of the same feathered and winged costume for a certain scene.
What’s next for Colleen? The Thin Man with Johnny Depp (undoubtedly directed by Tim Burton). Can’t wait!

Hope all is well!

This film looks like a rather nifty take on the Snow White tale. I adore Charlize and think that she will make a most excellent evil Queen… right up there with Maleficent who was THE BEST Disney villain.
I think that the costumes are rather stunning and have that epic fairytale feel and grandeur. : )
What you said Ellington: “I think that the costumes are rather stunning and have that epic fairytale feel and grandeur”. Colleen Atwood is a master!! Oh, I’m sure Charlize is a great evil Queen. Seen the trailer? I bet you have :)
