Rihanna’s Vogue US April 2011 The Shape Issue

Rihanna. Red haired Rihanna covering Vogue US? I was convinced it will be a major disappointment. It seems that today, however, it’s my mythbusting day. First the trendy minty nail polish, now this?

This, however, is major breakthrough for me – a celebrity on the cover of Vogue April 2011 is hardly newsflash. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz – it’s the secret ingredient that would make my cover digestion easier. Watch the video of her Living Out Loud feature and it will possibly change your mind too, like it did mine: I love this Vogue cover! I think I may love the entire Shape issue as it unfolds before my eyes with more and more magic in each page. I’m charmed and I’m Loving It Out Loud! How about you? (don’t miss the images right after the jump and the video!) (Vogue via)

and the next?? Ke$ha?? and Snooki later on…
oh Ana honey…what about models on the cover?

this girl is pretty . I just dont understand all the buzz around her.As a singer she is like, mmm, nothing??

She looks gorgeous, the dress is awesome. I would never recognize her music besides Umbrella-ella-ella. I also wonder if she wasn’t that pretty her music would sell? It’s so mediocre. Next? Ke$ha? Snooki? Nah….Kim Kardashian of course! Because “we embrace our curves these” days. So forget a model on the cover of Vogue; it don’t sell anymore.

you got the point jinjer… everybody I know say the same: “oh, she is so pretty” but NEVER ” she is a great singer”…perhaps for teens she is fine, but are teens the new demo for Vogue?
I could deal with actresses because some times they have interesting lives/proyects to tell.
If Vogue goes so pop, soon we will see reality “stars” on the cover.
(well, Paris Hilton covered the french one once…)

I’m with you on the umbrella thing – I doubt having listened to Rihanna’s music besides that ella song. Oh – one exception – that piece with Eminem? I actually wanted to see the video ;) so Rihanna’s singing was included…

I think Vogue US will remain celebrity – focused because that’s what sells. I doubt they want to put a zero size model on the cover and frustrate the potential customer. Rihanna is charming and I loved her enthusiasm more than her awkward posing.

I doubt Vogue has any idea who their demographic is? The last 3 covers point to the 15-25 yr olds – yet the young girls I know think Vogue is for their mother’s & their mothers are no longer buying fashion magazines?
I am just sick to death of the ‘same same but different’ mentality printed year after year. The Shape issue – again! It is like my clueless granny telling me what is fashionable. This year it is flamboyant colored hair deary!

Keiko, or the Age Issue!! Argh……..

mdinah: I love it you call me ‘jinjer’ :D

Kpriss, I think you’re right. For now the celebrity thing shall go on at the Vogue cover because it sells. See enough celebs on the web so I don’t buy it and to be honest I’ve been always more a fan of Vogue UK.
Oh yes, that Eminem song: E. played safe and the song reminded me too much on the ‘Stan trick’ with Dido which I loved 10 years ago….:)

stop it? 10 years already? No? I hate saying that, but … I feel old? How’s that even possible? 10 years have already passed since E. came up with that Dido collaboration? Whoa girl! I’m soooo yesterday!

I think I’ll be soon buying Vogue. It’s for the “mothers”, didn’t you say, Keiko? Maybe that’s why I don’t listen to Rihanna?

Yes, and Dido had a hit with “White Flag” where I laid my eyes for the first time on a guy so hot I thought: “OMG, who is that?” it turned out to be it was Bones’ actor David Boreanaz. I’d never watched the series but while zapping once some years later……;)
Kpriss you ar not old!!! Girl, yes I say “gurl” you love Arcade Fire among many other great music. Nah, I don’t feel old but terribly melancholic. And I’m way off topic I know and I’m off to YouTube because that has changed too for watching videos if it’s allowed….:)

I like the cover and the dress Rihanna looks rather stellar and now she is dating Colin Farrell, also Rihanna likes to play with fashion so that may also be reason why she is on the cover.
