When it comes to mixing patterns, I still get flutters in my stomach. I (almost) never can tell if I’ve done it right, or even what right means! So in my perspective, you have to have a darn good fashion sense to pull off two or more patterns in one outfit. (and by that I’m not referring to the gipsy mix and match style – that, I’m loving and there’s no right or wrong, it’s just gipsy)
So, naturally, this Comme Des Garcons dress impressed me on so many levels! I’ll start with the colors – it’s so black and white simple yet so very complex, it hurts! The shape is perfectly feminine and still Rei Kawakubo struck a seriously creative chord when she shortened one side of the dress still keeping the general length!
And last but not least – the price of this piece from the Spring Summer 2011 collection: $2,750? If I’ll start looking for pieces to assembly and pull a similar look from me own closet, would I look mad?
