Christy Turlington’s Vogue Italy July 2010

Something about Christy Turlington will always make her look fresh and beautiful, no matter her age or the trends époque we’ll be experiencing. Gracing the August July 2010 issue of Vogue Italy, Christy Turlington (as photographed by Steven Meisel) exudes that Italian kind of femininity and sensuality I don’t really get.

Even so, I’m alright with not being totally in accord with the photo settings. It just makes Christy even more powerful, by contrast. How do you love your Christy? (more images and a video right after the jump) (photos tfs via Vogue)

Note to Anna — this is the type of cover we demand of US VOGUE! no more actresses — they are as boring as bat s..t!

Why on this green earth cannot US Vogue have covers like this??!!
Christy is stellar as usual!

Probably cuz American Vogue prefers a modern, up-to-date look. This beautiful Italian cover looks straight out of the 1960s. The image looks more Sophia Loren than Christy Turlington

If you did your research you would now that this is the JULY cover, the August one is yet to come out.

Thank you, guerlain! I was thinking July and wrote August instead… me bad!

Besides that I love Christy and agree with Kpriss about this lady I also agree with Ellington: this is what a Vogue cover should look like.

cc, it’s Vogue Italia. I understand their inspiration. The last years Vogue US doesn’t look “up-to date” at all. Just boring, mediocre and often like the cover of catalogue. Okay, a chic catalogue……:)

1960s… with photoshop disaster.
Her neck’s awful.

US Vogue doesn’t do obvious throwback 1960s hair and makeup. That’s what I mean by ‘up-to-date’.

ps I know it’s Vogue Italia. What’s your point? What do you understand about their inspiration?

cc, are you talking me? My point about what? That Vogue Italia shows a homage to the 60’s style and came up with this great cover? There’s this world wide crisis and the 60’s where the decade of hope and renewing. In fact this is as surreal as Gwyneth (in the kitchen her) in Vogue US. I just like this cover more.

I saw the photoshoot of Kristen McMenamy inside that Vogue US somewhere. Her look on the cover would have make the ‘age-issue’ interesting. Looked very modern and also very realistic so up-to-date. But what do I know?

It’s alright- I guess I misunderstood you – my bad. Yeah – the idea of the 60s being a hopeful era we’ve lost. It is good to be reminded of the need to unify.
