Nars Cosmetics celebrates its 15th birthday. In order to make that moment a really special one, Nars has come up with a special project: 15×15. Currently a month away, the 15×15-day is the launch day of a book featuring Nars’ friends.
Like in any brands with any self-respect, Nars only has celeb-friends. Just think Marc Jacobs, Olivier Theyskens, Daphne Guiness, Natasha Poly, just the name a few. (the story continues right after the jump with more images!)
Though Nars isn’t quite new in the books industry, this time they try something different from their previous project X-Rays. If X-Rays was all about portraits, trying to capture one’s vibe with just one picture, 15×15 is about inspiration. About celeb inspiration.
Once again, we find ourselves at the ecstatic point of our existence when we’re amazed by how inspired celeb-people are! I for one, I really am amazed! Don’t ask yourself what this and that celeb makes to be famous, instead ask yourself what else this and that celeb can do to be even more famous!
Getting back to the Nars business: the photos included in the book are the actual artwork . Eye-candies for the most part, the images show us reputed designers, models, artists in their own way and a moment/picture that brought them such high inspiration, they went on associating it with a makeup product! Aesthetically pleasing and very much inspiring, the upcoming Nars photo-project is definitely worth taking at least an art-hungry look at! (WWD via Refinery29)

I like the nude colour of the lipstick. Very me. A natural look. Luckily less expensive brands sells it.
Marc Jacobs, ugh….sorry can’t help it: this pic makes me a bit nauseous. I usually don’t have that, I don’t know why? Have I become narrow minded? Is it the make-up? The tacky tattoos? Marc? Or the whole package?
Ah, Nars…shortened for Narcissus?
I actually really like the make up on Olivier Theyskens.
Marc Jacobs u need to stop u ran out of ideas a long time ago ms thang. u aint no mugler gaultier or no westwood girl!
I thought something was wrong with that Marc picture, too! Just like you, Adriana, I can’t put my finger on it! There’s something tacky and strange screaming from that image! I do like him wearing the wedding band, however! And the red nails, it’s hilarious. Like playing with mummy’s makeup case ;)
As for artistic/aesthetic value: I treasured Naomi’s colored inspiration-painting. Really beautiful. And Shalom’s photo! Impressive. Also Daphne’s styling for the book picture, the one with the massive headpice? a stunner!
I love Daphne Guiness she is fabu on so many style levels. She always looks amazing to me without it looking like she is trying to hard This photo of her is great.
As for Marc Jacobs, he is alarming looking in this photo like something is amiss. He looks like a cheap Saturday morning cartoon.
I do love Nars makeup they make some lovely colours and shades for every complexion. :)
