With an epic eye for photography (and a world of trouble in her personal/financial life), photographer extraordinaire, Annie Leibovitz teamed with Louis Vuitton for a luggage design project.
Her design will be auctioned off at London’s Sotheby’s, November 17th with all the proceeds going for the Red Cross. Annie Leibovitz custom LV design is about black leather trimmings and red lining, bonus a camera shoulder bag with outer zipped compartments. (the story continues right after the jump with more images!)
Her special monogrammed canvas design joins fellow charity-designed trunks signed by Marc Jacobs (a dog carrier), Damien Hirst (surgical tools trunk), Argentine Gustavo Santaolalla (Babel and Brokeback Mountain composer who designed a musical instrument trunk), Patrick-Louis Vuitton (yep, that’s like in Louis Vuitton family! his passion for painting drove him to design a painting tools trunk). Given that Sophia Coppola’s designs for Louis Vuitton were an undeniable, unexpected success, will Annie Leibovitz rise to the same huge design-popularity?
(I sincerely think she will, especially with that camera shoulder bag which, I’m sure, will become a huge fash-hit in the ranks of street-fash-photographers/bloggers! A good camera bag costs the world, anyway, so I don’t expect the less from a good camera bag with a fashion label designed by a such a renowned photographer!) (via 1, 2)

I hope that the auction raises a lot and I do hope that Annie’s financial woes and stresses get resolved.
So many creative people who are so great with their work are so miserable with their finances. Happens also here in my country to someone who really didn’t deserve his financial misery. I wish Annie all the best of luck and support. And pray she doesn’t loose the rights over her own hard and wonderful work. I’ve chicken skin typing this……to me that feels if someone wants to steal the soul of another human being….brrrrr…no rights over your own work, your name….imagine that…..:(
Bless her even more she did this for the Red Cross!
Kpriss, do you still use Pampers for the little princess? Do you know that if you buy one package of Pampers you support a child or a pregnant woman for life with a vaccination against tetanus?
One package = 1 vaccination for a lifes in Africa. It’s for UNICEF. And to you all, make a lovely present for someone with a little one and help. Decorate and be creative it to make it look lovely?
Sorry, I read Red Cross and since I learnt about this some days ago the humanitarian in me came alive…..:)
