If you were relying on Rodarte to take you further on the twisting fabric expedition, don’t! Here comes Marit Fujiwara, the next big name in textiles!
Her BA graduation collection from the Chelsea College of Art and Design makes the rounds of fashinternet and that’s perfectly justified given that her creations really really look mind blowing! (the story continues right after the jump with more pictures!)
Exploring and twisting fabric at one’s desire is something I wished for all my life but there’s only a handful of truly gifted fabric magicians and Marit is definitely one of those! The graphic way of turning textiles around into making an impossibly beautiful frock falls right in line with Irina Sharapova’s imaginative knitzilla pieces. The fresh air couture was desperately in need for is on the way! (via)

Interesting, beautiful but also playful and above all mastercraft!
Each piece is more stunning than the last!
Wow, I love it all. Very unique in the way of textile twisting. I found they are all girlishly dramatic.
Really very lovely and well made.
The textiles remind me of sea anemones and John Turner paintings. Beautiful.
