Recession, what? Hermès challenges the young designers for $4,000-worth first prize while they’ve initiated a breeding crocodiles campaign in Australian farms. Because it’s really hard to make 3,000 crocodile bags/year (it takes 4 crocodiles per handbag), bags that end up costing around $48,000/piece!
Let’s see: that’s about $144,000,000/year in crocodile bags and just $4,000 for a design competition prize? Twisted are the ways of luxury! (wonder how many crocodiles make a chair.. or a guitar case!) (via, photos via 1, 2 photochopping courtesy Stylefrizz)

in my own opinion, i don’t like crocodile bags. But as for it is like nothing on the earth,so it worth value.
Yeah, people that can still afford Hermès doesn’t feel the recession really.
Great breeding crocodiles to kill them for bags or a lovely huge pink tipi for Mr. Andre Leon Talley!
Off (this) topic:
I’ve watched some days ago the PPR Home Project movie (2007). A proud Mr. Pinault explained why he’s so worried about our planet.
Some people found the movie questionable. It looks great and has a message but misses a critical view on consumerism and some replyers asked why that wasn’t questioned and what PPR had to with this. So I replied:
“Go to the Home project page and watch the interview with Mr. Pinault who wants to make himself and PPR look good. Because PPR and this filthy rich CEO has almost brainwashed the world with consumerism.” Or something like that. It didn’t took long before I and the two people who asked this were deleted by Home Project cq PPR! Pfff……
Forgot to mention: Watched the movie on YouTube on Home Project’s channel.
Ah this is a tad bizarre and I can see PETA picketing and have petitions signed regarding this.
this makes sense but still leaves a bad taste in my mouth
