Shoes will always raise pulses. If associated with movie stars, shoes become so much more than just shoes! They become the “shoes of…” and the “shoes worn by…”, their life of vulgarity and anonymity makes room to a live of spotlight and endless exhibitions and neverending “wows”!
If you have the chance to be in Madrid these days, up until October 29 there will be a special exhibition in relation with the Film Festival October Short. It’s “Zapatos Rodados”! Shoes worn by stars in the movies! And not just any star! You can see the shoes worn by Penelope Cruz or Marilyn Monroe. Or James Dean.
There’s also a special section of replicas, but the 23 original shoes tops the 13 replicas from this very special Spanish exhibition. Come to think of it, do you imagine an exhibition with Carrie Bradshaw’s shoes? (you can see some of the shoes right after the jump) (via, photos via)

Oh, how I WISH I had the money and time off to jet to Madrid for this exhibit!
OMG I own such boots! My Spanish worned out boots! They look though more worse than these…I keep them until the day I die. Did James Dean wore these? Mine are not that old but I’ve strutted through the sea with these boots, climbed rocks to get to the quiet beautiful beaches….can’t believe I see these boots here I was just thinking about my days overthere…gosh….Gonna print this photo out right now!
Oh, that red shoes are to die for. So elegant and very important as well, the heel is high enough to feel sexy and not be punished to have some physical problems later in life. Beautiful….sighs…and MY BOOTS! But I’m a rebel with a cause. That’s how I see it anyway…..Amazing my boots!!!!!
The Marie Antoinette shoes are divine.
That would be a fun exhibit to see!
In Toronto we are lucky to have the Bata Shoe Museum which is a fabu place. Who know they may just get this exhibit. They have in the past had wonderful exhibits and they also have famous shoes from actors, dancers, royalty and politicians. They also shoe the history and use of different shoes and how they denoted your station and or class in life. If you ever come to Toronto you must check it out! : )
Oh sorry, I was so overwhelmed by “my boots” that I forgot to mention I would LOVE to see this exhibition of course!!!
@Ellington: wow, the Bata Shoe Museum sounds fantastic! We had for a long time a Bata shoe factory and chain in the Netherlands. Everyone wore Bata shoes!
I love costume museums in general btw.
Costumes are indeed impressive! I’m a costume design fan and I think there’s so much freedom in doing this kind of design, something that could never be on the catwalk!
Adriana, I’m glad the boots reminded you of something so dear! :*
Ellington, will keep it in mind! Never know! ;)
Oh, Sal, they only make Chanel mobile, what a shame! If all the exhibits of the world could be mobile!
WendyB they’re not my favs but I did loved the movie!
It must be cool to have Marilyn Monroe’s shoes. I wonder what size is she?
Just watched movie called Dirty Love with Jenny McCarthy. The scene where her exboyfriend got out of his car and headed into his apartment, he was wearing a pair of boots, looked Italian. Any ideas on who, what, and where?
@Adriana:
Which brand are your James Dean shoes?
Thanks Matze
Hi Matze, I’ve not the slightest idea what brand my old boots are??? I bought them because I loved their look and they were so practical. Are! They were not expensive either since I bought them in my (money wise) poor days. :)
ok, thank you Adriana! I thinks its hard to find good looking boots nowadays, most look too ‘stylish’ and are of poor quality.
regards Matze
