Karl Lagerfeld Vs Tom Ford Fashion Talk

How about that? Two fashion titans side by side, talking in complete harmony about tailoring!

Karl Lagerfeld and Tom Ford compliment each other on the making of clothes (unfortunately they’re talking about men suits! I would’ve loved hearing them detail the art of making women clothes). Don’t miss the science and the fun of two sartorialists respecting each other and their métier for a better dressing! (via)

The Master and the Padawan (to use Star Wars Jedi speak) are talking tailoring. This is a bit of fun, and interesting too, but it would have been great to hear them wax poetic about women’s clothing!

I don’t understand the English Karl speaks! I saw a clip where he’s a guest in a very popular German programme. “Wetten Das”. Other guests were Carla Bruni, Salma Hayek in a dirndl dress (which was hilarious maybe she thought that was common to wear!) and a (in Germany) very beloved Dutch footballer’s (soccer) wife. Well, der Karl was very charming, witty and funny! Smiled a lot. Nothing chilly about him.
I need subtitles here. I understand Tom Ford without a problem. Tom honey, we want comfortable yet elegant clothes too. I never found his designs looking comfortable or a good cut. I’ve never seen what made his collections so amazing. The man himself is very charming……

i enjoyed watching this. i would have never thought to pair the two together. i have such a little crush on tom ford, ever since his gucci/ysl days. he’s very charming. i see why carine was enamored by him. if tom told me to dye my hair blonde, i would too!

i love when tom touches karl!

Correction: its off-topic I know but Salma didn’t shock Karl (nor she wouldn’t shock Tom) because she had to wear the dirndl-dress because she lost a bet. That’s what’s the programme is about you see. What stars do for PR…..

No English subtitles for Karl either? Sniff….and oh, yes I wish this was about women’s clothing. About this season shoes as one example?

I thought it was really interesting. I design and sew myself, so I enjoyed the technical aspects they spoke about a lot. I am getting more involved in tailoring myself, and it is nice to hear from the experts!
I also liked the comment Tom Ford said, “sometimes you should have to suffer for fashion”. Not many people get that- but I still firmly believe that sometimes it is definately worth it!

Adriana, in fact the subtitles (the interview en entier) were on the source website. Funny little man, the Kaiser, sometimes! You’re right about him being human every now and then!

Ellington and Pret a Porter P – I know what you mean about Tom’s charm. He surely has something! Besides tailoring talents!

Penelope, I know, everyone says we should suffer for fashion, but I still hope that somewhere, somehow, we’ll put an end to that! As for your great work, keep it up, it’s beautiful!

Thanks Kpriss! 11 pages “subtitles” are very handy for me!
