It’s been a few days now that I sit and look at this picture, wondering what to do with.
It’s a photo from the Christian Dior fashion show, backstage makeup, and it would be about fall-winter 2008/2009 trends in makeup (or at least catwalk concerned trends). The work has been done by Path McGrath with Makeup Forever Silver Glitter over a black shadow and it’s supposedly inspired by Josephine Baker.
Maybe I’m not an avant-garde-ist when make-up involved. But at least, aesthetically, I can speak up and say there’s no way this is going on the streets!
Even for the catwalk is so theatrical that it’s sure to leave an impression. Like it did for me – I saw the picture and was inexplicably drawn to it.
So now I’m sharing it with you – what do you think of this make-up proposal? Does it mean it’s all going back to shades? To strong makeup? Or it’s just another catwalk trend never to survive outside the backstage makeup area?

Well, hopefully not. But, i really loved the size it kinda makeup gave to the eyes… i.e. in this pic: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/graphics/2008/02/25/dior.jpg
looks more like marks from tainted binoculars to me ;)
Strong makeup make sense on a scene, in a theatrical way. I think it’s just too much for every day life, either way…
This is amasing, i love the eyes!! such a strong and bold look!!
