We interrupt our usually fashionable weekend for a very important news break: Beyonce finally gave birth just few hours ago! Congrats to the happy parents! The delivery was a scheduled C – section (so no real surprise there) all natural at the Lennox Hill Hospital, NY and the baby girl’s name is (so far) Ivy Blue Blue Ivy Carter! UPDATE: the baby girl’s name is Blue Ivy and the official statement said she was delivered naturally at 7lbs!

I do not understand “scheduled C-sections” but hey, what a lovely news and a lovely name.

I wish the Carter Family lots of happiness and can not wait to see mom and dad’s happy smiles :)

Scheduled C-sections are for women who are “too posh to push”, Riana.
They do it because a) they wish to have the baby when they want to, not when the baby is ready to show up, and b) because they do not wish to “stretch” out down there.

But this is lovely news and I sure that they are both overjoyed! : )

There are medical reasons to have a scheduled c section for example the baby is in a breech position (bottom first), large baby, infection present or a low lying placenta is present. These conditions are very dangerous for the baby. Hope this helps with the confusion.

Yes there are medical reasons for a C section Keiko, but my cousin who is midwife in a British hospital has told me that those are rare and far and few. Most of the C sections asked for are by women who do not wish to get stretched out or who do not wish to go throw the waiting for the baby to show.
And sadly this is so true.

“They do it because a) they wish to have the baby when they want to, not when the baby is ready to show up…”

Ellington has made some good points. I know someone who ‘schedualed’ the arrival of her baby to coincide with the father’s birthday and she also wanted to avoid going through the pain of labour.

We all know someone who is / was “too posh to push” but it is a generalisation that has a negative impact. My response was to help Riana with her question – not to start a heated debate.

Keiko I was in a hurry(someone rang the doorbell again grrrr!) but I wanted to say you made some valid points too. There are also medical reasons of course.
No heated debate here Keiko. Just a strong discussion. :) I’m sure Riana appreciates it all.

Ehhh…..I think I have to make an apologise….I know all about that of course…..I feel ashamed that I made such a snarly remark while it’s a such happy occasion….I’m better being witty in my own language…

And if I wouldn’t have known about this all Dollybird is right, the effort keiKo made is very much appreciated. I learnt something though “too posh to push”….that’s an expression I did not know about. So thanks for that. :)

Hopes you ladies can forgive me? *blush*

of course Riana! : )
its all good chica! : )

I thought Ivy Blue was a cute name but apparently the bub’s name is Blue Ivy – which I don’t quite get.

#13 Ellington on 01.09.12 at 12:12 am

The Blue part of her name I am not sure what it references but Ivy is suppose to represent Jay-Z and Beyonce’s birth dates 4th of Sept,(her) Dec.4th (him) and their wedding date April 4th.
Ivy= IV the Roman numeral.

Thank you, Ellington! I read something here and I was appalled, really! This is madness!

As for “too posh to push”… I may have a thing or two to add but I think I’ll just be polite and say that the stretching just as the breasts modifications occur whether or not there’s natural birth, the natural way to give birth is when the child is ready to meet the outside world, not when the parents want it to. But hey, when you’re 30, nobody asks you if you were born naturally or through a cesarean. And that, after all, is a question of personal choice. And circumstances (health issues).

There are pro and cons for every way of giving birth, the important thing is to have everyone safe and healthy at the end of the day! For this is a blessing either way we look at it!

#15 Riana on 01.09.12 at 10:42 am

I just read the full meaning of the name. If that’s true because the source is Daily Mail ;)

Ivy is in reference to the couple’s love of the number four – roman numeral for 4 is IV
Beyoncé and Jay-Z were married on April 4, 2008
Jay-Z’s birthday is December 4
Beyoncé’s birthday is September 4.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have matching IV tattoos on their wedding fingers.
The singer’s latest album is called 4 which was her fourth solo studio album.
Jay-Z has a trilogy of albums under The Blueprint banner which could have inspired his daughter’s name. He has released The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse and The Blueprint 3.

Very complicated or creative? ;)

#16 kpriss on 01.09.12 at 10:44 am

at least it’s not that evil thing explanation! I can go for a IV Roman explanation :)

#17 Riana on 01.09.12 at 10:51 am

I never told you that I am a mother and have give birth. Natural birth. It’s something I rather not talk about. The meaning of my daughter’s name is “Mighty Warrior”. Not that I chose her beautiful old European name for that reason. I found out about that years later and that made me feel real good! She’s quite a powerful girl. What’s in a name?

(Though I have always
wanted to tell three of you girls about this. Chérie, you were the first in fact….so now you know. That’s off my chest. Such a relieve…I hope after I have clicked on the submit button and I am not going to regret it….)

#18 kpriss on 01.09.12 at 11:28 am

Such a beautiful meaning for, undoubtedly, a beautiful girl! :* thank you for sharing, Riana! You’re always among friends here, so no need to even think about regretting it!

Sooo now that the official words are out from Jay and Be, they have officially confirmed that babies name is Blue Ivy Carter, born Saturday 7 Jan and NOT Friday 6 Jan like first reported, Baby was born NATURALLY and not a scheduled c-sect like first reported also. It has also been confirmed that the couple DID NOT hire out an entire hospital floor but only an executive suite that the hospital charged at normal rates. AND NCIU parents were not in anyway hindered access from their children or the hospital, they were free to move as normal.

So my question is this: Where do people come up with this fake information? and why are we so quick to believe iT!

#20 Riana on 01.11.12 at 6:09 am

Sammie, do you also believe Jay composed and recorded Glory after Blue Ivy was born? It’s a lovely song; I was very moved by it. But he did do that all that quick in one day? Nah….

And why did Beyoncé perform like she did at Glastonbury while being pregnant in such an early stage after having a miscarriage? I wouldn’t have done that. No way! But, I remember Jay was watching her together with Gwyneth Paltrow looking worried all the time and I did wonder why so perhaps he was scared?? Who knows?
What to believe what we read and hear about celebrities? I have no idea. I believe they have a baby girl together. And that’s all.
But I also tend to believe the complaints of the other parents in that hospital.

#21 kpriss on 01.11.12 at 6:14 am

Oh, come on?! If you were Jay Z (or Beyonce) and you had.. well just about everything and anything they have, wouldn’t you be at least overprotective of your first born? As in paranoid?

Normal people get paranoid when they’re in the same position they were, so? Let me tell you a little story (that may or may not convince you): I used to be a cat lady. I had two cats (actually I had more than that, but during my first pregnancy, I only had two). Two beautiful, loving cats who cuddled at my side when I was taking a nap, who were all the time, at all times, with me. When I came home with my baby from the hospital, shboom! Something popped! when I saw the cat hair in the house, the cats getting near my wee one, I totally flipped and locked them away.

Eventually my mom took them since I couldn’t, for the life of me, let them anywhere near my little one! So imagine I, a very normal person (well, I have my moments ;) ) reacted like that with my very own cats! Now think about Jay and Bee, what they represent, the means they have at their disposal – and now think about how’d they react to protect their (first) newborn!

Yeah, I totally believe they closed the floor (even if it was just for few hours), I absolutely believe it could’ve been a C-section, to protect both the mother and the child from uncalled for stress during the delivery and whatnot else! And that is not because I’m evil or because I dislike them both! It’s just because they’re rich and famous. And can do pretty much all they want to.

#22 Riana on 01.11.12 at 6:34 am

Oh hello good morning! That’s fast let’s read first…..;)

Poor cats….it’s great you have such a lovely mother :)

Yes, money talks…..glory, glory….yeah…

#23 kpriss on 01.11.12 at 7:09 am

Hello lovely! When I was writing my answer to sammie, I had no idea you were already there! :*

yeah, my mom was heartbroken for those two cats. As I was, but it was beyond me. I couldn’t let them anywhere near the baby so that was it.

(forgot to add the delivery stories – but hey, we’re talking fashion here, nobody wants to hear a sobbing birth story! In short – my doctor was in operation when I was ready to have my babies – pretty much every time; he was in operation and because I wasn’t “scheduled”, he couldn’t know and liberate himself for a half hour just for me – being that he was also the main surgeon in that hospital – so he ran from the operating block to my delivery room to deliver the newborns – all four births were like that. Everyone was calling, paging him to come over, he was just wrapping up his surgery, nurses and midwives all over the place, doctors were ready to take on the newborn – it was craaaazy! Everyone running up and down! I wish I had all the floor for myself! All four times! And I am just a normal person!)

Cats do not harm babies… that is an old wives tale full of malice due to the fact that cats were seen as aids to the devil and were thought of as witches’ familiars. Also humans shed more if not as much as cats and or dogs.
as for Jay-Z and Beyonce and baby Blue… I am a tad tired of hearing about it all. i am just glad that the baby is here and they are happy like most new parents seem to be.
And yes I do believe that they blocked that floor and B probably did have a C section.
All I have got to say in conclusion is own your jank, and do not make excuses for it.
