While wearing a red Rouge a Levres has transcended from a simple cosmetically enhanced beauty gesture to myth, French songbird and actress Vanessa Paradis embodies the Chanel Coco Rouge for Spring Summer 2010.
Photographed by Mert and Marcus, romantic and ethereal, Vanessa doesn’t strike me as a lipstick wearer. Though the Red Carpet demands so, wearing fire red lipstick and living with Johnny Depp just don’t match in my book. They do so in yours? The business people over at Chanel say that they’re betting on Vanessa Paradis to pump up the sales numbers (because, they say, she’s a young, sophisticated woman permanently associated with Chanel). The Rouge Coco is set for launch in March (worldwide) with a campaign directed by who else than Jean-Baptiste Mondino who already worked with Vanessa Paradis – latest on her Elle Magazine shoot.
Getting back to the lipstick: Rouge Coco will be released in 30 shades, each being named after a defining detail in Coco Chanel’s existence (Camelia, Mademoiselle, Paris). The packaging is a classic one for Chanel so let’s hope that the formula and the print ads with the Mert and Marcus signature but also the Jean-Baptiste Mondino directed commercial will work their magic for the profits of the legendary fashion house! In other words: would you wear Rouge Coco from Chanel despite the recession?

Every time I see Vanessa Paradis looking as gorgeous I thought of Karl’s fat mommas speech I think he starts to dodder.
I did not realize it was Vanessa at first, because her mouth was closed. I am so used to seeing the gap in her teeth.
She is lovely as always.
Kind of a boring ad which looks like all the others. I would think they could do something better with Vanessa. Showing the gap in her teeth at least adds something, but the other pictures are bland.
