Angelina Jolie In Armani Privé Dress At Baftas 2009

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt graced the Bafta Awards Ceremony even if they left empty handed.

The pouring rain didn’t stop the all-nominated couple so they walked around, hand in hand from one interviewer to another, answering (basically identical) questions and being charming. Angelina’s Armani Privé dress, however, seriously raised my eyebrows. (more images and a video after the jump!)

Angelina Jolie Armani Prive Baftas 09

There’s a huge difference between the catwalk model and the dress as seen on Angelina at the 2009 Baftas. That black and yellow blanket was wrapped around Angelina’s tiny frame making her look odd. Do you think she was better in this Armani privé spring 2009 or in her gray-ish blouson dresses she worn previously? (photos via celebutopia, style.com)

Gosh, was there really backlash to her appearance in this dress? She looks lovely to me, and worlds better than she did in the blah pantsuit of recent memory.

i actually like it better on angelina
she should wear more color

I think that she looks great and its fabu to see a splash of colour on her! Maybe this show of colour is a bit of foreshadowing for what she might wear at the Oscars? : )
It does look better on her than on the catwalk.

Angelina wears the dress so much better than the runway model. Its looks prettier and more playful this way. Like she wore that blue dress backwards.
Have you all missed the black eehhmm…black satin “peignoir” at the Japanese promotion tour? Good grief!

Anyway, I didn’t care much about the dresses, Mickey Rourke was my highlight of the Baftas. And I believe not only mine……I love the way he’s dressed by the way. Such a charming hellraiser.

Adriana my dear I do believe that you have a type?! ;)
I don’t mind Mickey Rourke as an actor in somethings( Angel Heart)and I am glad that he is having his chance back in the spotlight much like John Travolta did after Pulp Fiction, but to be honest Mickey Rourke kind of grosses me out especially after the shots of him talking to Kate Winslet while having his hand down his trousers. That’s just crude, rude and crass.

Ellington, I do have a type? What do you mean exactly and why?
This sounds a bit judgmental to me you see!

#9 Ellington on 02.10.09 at 5:00 pm

Yes Adriana I did say that you do have a type but I did not mean it as judgmental only as an observation. If anything I was judgmental about Mickey Rourke having his hand down the front of his trousers while talking to Kate Winslet.
Let me explain, you seem to profess an attraction to men who are “rock and roll” ie: Axl Rose and Mickey Rourke, you professed to finding them sexy. They both have that rough and ready thing about them, or as you said hell raiser. Hence that is why I observed and said that you seem to have a type. All women have a type of person that they find attractive, why are you offended by my stating my observation? I did not mean to hurt you Adriana and if I did please accept my apology for doing so.
Pax? : )

Ellington, of course: Pax! There’s trouble enough in this crazy world.
I was not offended but more like annoyed? I’ve said earlier I really liked the original early Guns n’ Roses not the current group. I haven’t even paid any attention to them since the band did split up until you wrote you found Axl Rose gross and ” you should look at him now”. Well, since I’m a YouTube addict I did that! OMG! Noooo…..but I found a lot of old material and interviews and I have to say: young Axl Rose was a crazy but very hot *bleep*! A photographers dream! If fashion would have been back then so celeb like it is now……anyway I’ve had a lot off fun with all that old material. Back then we had not access to so many info as we do now. Thanks to YouTube.
About Mickey Rourke, I loved him younger and I began to dislike him a lot to put it mildly. “Barfly” was his last great part to me. Then he got back to boxing, plastic surgery etc. etc. But he has cleaned up his act. I like him again. I know he hold his hand in his pants all the time, he smokes, he’s shall never be a conventional person. That’s Mickey, I like him as he is now. There’s something so charming endearing about him in my view. You should see his speech (YouTube) on the Baftas last Sunday and watch the audience. Look at their reactions. Especially to young Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), read his lips! And his co-star Marisa Tomei. People love the man. He’s real and he has charisma.
“Rock n’ roll” ie? Well, I’ve played bass guitar in a rock band…..I don’t know what’s more precious to me: my sewing machine or my fabulous Fender Mustang Bass from the 50’s with its marvelous sound…..???

Hey, I love Tom Hanks, Ed Harris, Javier Bardem, Ed Norton, Sean Penn (oh he’s “rock n’ roll” ie too LOL!) and a lot more actors……the list will be too loooooong as this piece is……

Ooohhhh, holy moly! So off-topic! Though its not that bad since the original topic wore once her lovers blood on her neck etc. etc. Oh, I like Billy Bob Thorton too as an actor by the way! He has made an album and I’ve seen him perform. The audience screamed for his song “Angelina”. It didn’t sound as beautiful as on the cd and Billy Bob was a bit grumble-ish…..he sang it, but I think that marriage was already on the rocks……
Here he’s very charming Billy Bob I hope everyone enjoys it because it is a such beautiful love song

Sorry, me again. I’d notice a channel on YouTube a “ihatebradandangelina” channel!! People are nuts. I’m very mild here……

#13 Ellington on 02.11.09 at 1:19 pm

Playing the base guitar is very cool!
Just like Tina Weymouth from the
Talking Heads! : )
I like some of the actors that you mentioned too!
I cannot believe the energy and effort some people expel just to hate someone!? The person who made that YouTube channel could you imagine what kind of good they could do if they put that energy into something positive? Now that waste makes me sad.

#14 kpriss on 02.15.09 at 3:50 pm

Hm, so I’m the only one who didn’t like the dress.. I’m ok with that, I love the diversity of opinions, it’s enriching!

Sadly, a lot of energy is being misused lately, hatred is just a drop in the ocean. Too bad for those who waste the precious time that has been given to them on such things!

Now about Mickey… I have to agree with Ellington – I don’t fall for him either. and he surely is a professional hellraiser! To my greatest surprise, the acceptance speech he gave at the Baftas was really amusing, so thanks for that, Adriana!

Billy Bob and his Angelina… Oh, those were the days, my friends ! ;)

#15 Adriana on 02.15.09 at 4:39 pm

Kpriss, I’d hope Mickey shall win the Oscar next Sunday. Another fun speech LOL! His Golden Globes speech was great too. Not a man I would have as a beau but as a good friend? Very entertaining and colorful this type off “cavemen”!
By the way we yelled so loud at the Bafta’s when Mickey won my neighbour asked what that was all about?

#16 Jessica on 05.28.09 at 12:27 pm

I don’t like it.
