I repeat myself (but I don’t mind, I just can’t help it) : I’m a sucker for all things Christmas. There’s really nothing (not even chocolate) that surpasses Christmas and all the joy it brings! Let it be Christmas every day! Ohhh!
Thank you for this beautiful week, for your wonderful and insightful comments, comme toujours! I wish you a happy, wonderful weekend! Enjoy Judy Garland’s Embraceable You from Girl Crazy! (more info right after the jump!)
There’s something about this kind of music, something that always reminds me about Christmas. Maybe because I love listening to old Christmas carols around Christmas? That too, but above all, Judy Garland’s Embraceable You is a love song! The kind I love to love and love to dedicate to my adored Husband!
Embraceable You was composed in 1928 by the amazing George Gershwin with lyrics by Ira Gershwin and originally performed by Ginger Rogers in 1930 (of course, in a dance routine with Fred Astaire). The version included here belongs to Judy Garland from the film Girl Crazy (1943), film made after the eponymous Broadway musical where the Embraceable You was first heard (the original orchestration can be listened here)
Those were the days! Have you noticed that wonderful headband on Judy’s head? And her hair? And how charming she was? (somebody stop me, I could go on till Christmas!)

I’ve noticed everything on her look Kpriss and yes, those were those days of the old stylish Hollywood glamour. Loves these old movies at times.
Christmas? Yet? Oh well, if you feel that way? Okay then.
Kpriss you always make me smile when you speak about your domestic happiness. I thank him too since he’s such an inspiration to you and so your blog and so to us in a way? :)
Lovely song Kpriss thanks for this (but I LOVE Ella Fitzgerald’s version much more)!
Have a stellar and fabu weekend everyone! :)
Thank you, ladies!
As you may have noticed, it’s been really quiet around here these days. I’ve been down with a high temperature and all, you know the kind that only comes around with a nasty cold virus. My husband is the busy bee of the house right now, I’m making friends with the bed and tons of tea and soups. And honey. And medication. I miss you terribly and hope to get up really soon!
Get well soon girl. I’m glad it isn’t the swine-flu though.
Enjoy the bed, the tea and soups and to be pampered by Adored Husband. Rest!
Hopes to see you soon back on track though. :)
Get well soon Chica!
Hugs and smiles and cough drops to you! :)
