Stand Up Guys Soundtrack: Bad Times Baby Huey

Although it’s possible you may hear about the Stand Up Guys Soundtrack’s Not Running Anymore (Bon Jovi’s Golden Globe nominated soundtrack song), I’d like you to stop and listen this piece right here, from the said movie’s soundtrack.

Baby Huey Hard Times is featured on the opening sequence’s soundtrack and is oh-such a lovely, powerful soul funk work of art! It comes all the way from 1971 and it’s a glorious match to the overall style of the movie: just hit the jump and play on! Have you seen the Stand Up Guys, by the way? Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin starring!

stand up guys music

Baby Huey’s Hard Times just joined my special obsessive rotation playlist and more I look into the movies’ soundtrack, I find even more amazing pieces, just as iconic as the very cast! One of my favorite songs, Gary Clark Jr’s Bright Lights is in it as well, Wayne Cochran’s Get Down with It too, Sock It To ‘Em JB by Rex Garvin & The Mighty Cravers. From what I’ve been rambling about, you might easily say how much I enjoyed this movie’s soundtrack. So if you have the opportunity – don’t miss it! (both the movie and the soundtrack! Old fashioned charm!)

My biggest regret is not being able to pair this great song with scenes from the movie or at least have a decent video to show. But! Baby Huey did die before his debut album got released in the first place, so it’s kind of suitable. At least let me know if you liked it, huh?

I love the song! I have to admit, I never heard of Baby Huey before, but am thrilled you’ve introduced me to him. What a voice!!

Baby Huey eh? Nice music but when I hear that name I will always think of that giant baby cartoon duck that always got into trouble. ; )

So happy you liked it Trix! Kind of the point of my Friday Breaks ;) !

Ellington you’re more on spot than you’d think! He used to be pretty ‘giant’ himself. Hence the heart attack that prematurely caused his death and prevented him from rejoicing the release of his very own debut album!

But he was pretty talented…

Had the pleasure of playing with Huey in the late 60’s in Chicago. Also played with some of his band after he passed. When i saw the movie i was shocked when I heard the song and even more shocked when I didn’t find it listed on the sound track.

Oh, wow! Thank you for commenting John! What a wonderful experience must’ve been!

That’s so weird as the movie opens up to this song and really sticks with you! I remember seeing it on the soundtrack’s track list though, first position.
