Kate And The Eyeliner: Is That Much Eyeliner Good For The Duchess?

After the initial enthusiasm and primal joy of meeting Kate Middleton, now Duchess of Cambridge, the world started to dish on her style and makeup. Normal, you’d say. I agree. However, some comments and observations seem to be pertinent, regardless of my admiration for her wedding moment, truly royal, and for her wanting to keep it real by doing her own makeup.

Dame Vivienne Westwood, a great authority and talent in the fashion game is the last to have objected to Kate’s heavy black eyeliner, saying that “…The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none.“

Dame Viv isn’t the first one who made a remark about the Duchess’ makeup habits, Viktor and Rolf, the highly esteemed Dutch fashion power duo counseled Kate to try “…different make-up and hair – less eyeliner, less hair. It would bring out her natural beauty.

Having seen the Duchess and her makeup ways (or her clothing style), what’s your take on her eyes makeup? Too much? Do you think she should take it easier on the black liner? (do you think she even cares what the fashion people say? I admit I admire her for solely mastering the eyeliner technique at such an amazing level!) (it’s hard to talk about anything less British these days, with the world’s eyes on London, so indulge me in this UK overload. Waves of unnecessary violence have hit the old continent this summer and my heart, barely recovering from the Norway tragedy, now face the London sorrow – sad, sad face) (photos via 1, 2)

I wasn’t totally in love w her makeup on the big wedding day only from far away she looked GORGEOUS! I think it was probably what they were going for. Any less and the public couldn’t have seen her from far away so she was stuck in between making different groups of people fall in love with her look. I am so obsessed with her I think everything she does is great right now! :)

Vivienne “Chaos” Westwood once the Queen of Punk, a rebel but a Dame these days should take a good look in the mirror and look at her own make-up!!! How dare she? Why isn’t she speaking out about the class differences (since era’s) and unemployment since years in the UK? Oh, she’s old and rich now and a Dame of course…I see….

Viktor & Rolf (as much as I love and adore them) should mind their own business too. These designers all got their “power” during the golden bubble which has obviously exploded. It is about time we all start to realize that. Kate Middleton, now Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, possible the new Queen of Britain, does earn her own life or what’s left of a life of her own; so let her use the make-up and dress the way she likes!! As our crown princess Máxima she “recycle” clothes too! Oh, shock, horror how dary they??!! IMHO these ladies understand our current society. Leave them alone. Have we forgotten what happened to Princess Diana? Same obsession with everything she did or wore killed her. End of rant. :(

Funny to me that anyone would think she would be concerned about any opinion other than her own – it was HER wedding day, after all!
