The Backstages Of The Fashion Industry: The Factory

I will only leave clues about what’s going on there… (oh, and for fashion industry insiders, who may or may not know what this picture is about, please indulge – wink)

So: it’s about fashion. About making fashion. A factory, to be more specific. Although a shovel and a couple of blue barrels don’t bring out the fashion in this chamber, I promise, it has (almost) nothing to do with AMC’s Breaking Bad! So? Are you ready to give up? Because I can’t keep the secret any longer! (if you want to know what they’re cooking in this factory, hit the jump!)

Yees! It’s denim, baby! It’s a jeans factory! Hard to believe, huh? Look at all those piles of jeans there! And look at those chemicals too!

Maaan, as much as I love the see the backstages of fashion, right now, I’m seriously contemplating sewing my own clothes! From linen and cotton carefully and thoroughly washed beforehand! Have you more fashion secrets from the backstages of all things mirrors & glamour? I’d love to know more! {the photos were taken during a visit at LA’s Blue River Denim Factory by Tala Samman while the two above were tweaked by yours truly)

I knew this yet. It’s not 100% without danger for the workers too. Not to mention those who sew these clothes and with all the sorts of cancers around and most of us wearing jeans who knows? To us and our envoriment…..

Good you did post this Kpriss.

I too was aware that there were some technological steps in the making of jeans which are potentially harming to those involved … But I had never seen the “inside” of a jeans factory! Looks so not glamorous!

Happy you like it!

no, not the fur factories, please! I couldn’t sleep or eat for days!

at least as far as jeans go, I can always keep my old ones – they’re already washed and pre – washed at home…

But I fear I wouldn’t like a tour of H & M’s factories either…
