Did you go through organizing a wedding? Your wedding? Someone else’s? It doesn’t really matter, you’ll get nervous just the same! I’ll tell you a little story, though – I was one of those perfectly immaculate brides. White wedding dress, long train, white veil, white bouquet. It was all white!
I even worked on a nice tan before the wedding day, so my white wedding dress would look even whiter (can you tell from the picture?)! But man, was I nervous! As the day approached, no longer had I butterflies in my stomach. Oh – no! as the day approached, my soft fluttering butterflies transformed into bees! Bees turning and buzzing and storming restlessly within me. (hit the jump for more)
I honestly think I never felt more nervous about something in my entire life! It all had to be perfect! From my white wedding dress to my Handsome Adored Husband – to – be’s navy blue striped suit!
So I woke up that day and something was different. I had the distinct feeling that my bees left me. My stomach was bees – free. A strange feeling of peace and quiet had a hold of me. I was no longer nervous. Actually, I’m convinced that when they describe those strange “outer – body” experiences, they talk about this kind of peace and quiet!
I was floating!
So: the bride took upon herself to carry through the hair & makeup thingies for her own wedding! Here I am, facing the mirror with my black eyeliner in one hand and a strong will to succeed the perfect line. Which I did. Almost. It was supposed to be simple and you know, natural. So black eyeliner, black mascara, my hair curled down my shoulders with just a few pins keeping some strands ready for the veil placement. A pinch of perfume, etcetera, etcetera!
There I go, time for the wedding dress: I was floating! My white sandals were so beautiful and delicate! I stepped out the door, the sun was shining, it was a beautiful summer day and I was going to marry the most Amazing man! My Adored Husband! And I did. And it was a beautiful wedding, everyone danced all night and… well, you know, happily ever after started that day!
But if there’s one thing I’d like to say to those brides – to – be out there who just ran into my lengthy wedding piece, it’s: let go of your fears, be yourself and enjoy the moment! I did! Even if I had my period that day! (yeah, you know how nervous I was pre – wedding? My body reacted the only way it could.) But you think I let that stop me from making the best of my wedding? Not a chance! You think that held me pinned to my chair all night? Not a chance! I danced and danced and laughed and had an amazing time! And I hope you will too!
This story is 100% true and any resemblance to (my) real life is not purely coincidental. At all! Actually, I shared this with you because we teamed up with P & G for a special campaign, as detailed below:
