Some of you may have heard there’s a new hit television series in town. It’s called The Walking Dead and even if you’re not really into zombiness, you should consider watching it because it’s directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile).
Now the reason I started mentioning the series is this photo I stumbled across. The undead vs. the models face-off. My favorite line? Supermodel lifespan: four years – from 18 to 22. Whoever did this hasn’t got all the facts straight. A Supermodel lives on for years and years (Kate Moss anyone?). A simple model’s life starts as early as 13 and could actually go on for about a decade. And I also assume that the author of this fine drawing wasn’t familiar with the Walking Dead madness. Everybody loves models… ahem zombies. Right? (via; more about the Walking Dead here)
Why would she need any makeup you’d say – it’s Cindy Crawford, after all, Cindy Crawford, one of the supermodels. She doesn’t need makeup to look great. And still – I think you know more women who don’t go out for groceries with that little makeup on! And they’re not in danger of meeting a dozen paparazzi just round the corner.
Keep it natural, it’s the best. For the skin you’re in, for the people around you. If Cindy can do it, so can you! (photos via)
Did you know Lily Aldridge before Victoria’s Secret? I admit, I didn’t. I had no idea who she was and that she was a model. Which comes as little surprise to one who’s bound to the original supermodels era. I’m an old school, told you that already…
However, when I heard that people were actually interested in Lily Aldridge because of her hair color and that everyone wanted to have the same color as hers, I opened my eyes on Lily. And found she was an incredibly sweet and lovely looking young woman. So maybe you might find the following video interesting? It’s Lily. About Lily. Before VS Lily. (via)
How’s that possible? If I only had a hint of what was going to happen, I would have hold on to that Vogue Paris story and today a side by side comparison would have seen the light of Stylefrizz. Oh well…
October 2010 was Lara Stone’s Vogue Paris month – Vogue UK has her on the November 2010 cover, as photographed by Alasdair McLellan (should we expect a Vogue US December 2010 cover? Just for the fun of it). Clearly worlds apart from the unsubtle Vogue Paris cover, Lara Stone’s bleached eyebrows look feels much more familiar. Plus Britain is her official home now, following her marriage, so a next-girl-look was more than appropriate. It’s a good cover, irreproachable, however in no particular way outstanding. In its own posh, quiet way, Vogue UK brings on the celebrity, don’t you think? (click through to discover more images, click here for the gallery!) (photos via)
Something about supermodels and the home interiors business tells me it’s not a coincidence that Iman has her own line of fabrics – Iman Home. In collaboration with P/K Lifestyles, a division of P/Kaufmann (and available this very September in Calico Corners and Calico Home stores), the new fabrics look amazing and sound inviting.
Iman actually was an active part of the creative process, especially with the names:“I had all the fabrics in front of me. Istanbul Sunset reminded me of a Rothko painting, but it also reminded me of Turkey. All of the naming took a day and a lot of Googling. I wanted to find, for instance, where peacocks are from. It’s hard to brainstorm, but once you start going, you get in a groove. I wanted to call the solids Paparazzi, but Lady Gaga already took that, so I went with Glitterati.”
The outcome? 15 decorative fabrics grouped in Urban Eclectic and Modern Glamour: Alexandria Scroll, Alhambra Amour, Assyrian Vine, Deauville Dance, Glitterati, Istambul Sunset, Java Moon, Punjab Peacock, Sultana Lattice, Zebra Oasis. Sounds interesting? (via 1, 2, 3)
I’d like to start by saying that Amber Valletta is one of my favorite faces out there. From the supers (and more) era. Her transition to acting was brilliant and she was just as insightful as an actress. However, we’re talking about Amber the model now.
She’s doing the fall-winter 2010/2011 campaign for Jimmy Choo. With a majority of black (shoes and accessories plus the Dolce & Gabbana clothes), she really stands out. It’s a low-budget ad, betting all on Amber’s charms to fill in the hotel corner space she seems to have been photographed in. Does she pull it off? (in my view better than Angela Lindvall did) (via)
I was really getting used to seeing the bedding collections as something only supermodels could do. Now I have to rewrite that in my head – Beyoncé joined the game. She and her mama have a bedding collection ready through Arrow Home Fashions, retailing from $49,99 to $99,99 and $149,99 to $199,99.
House of Deréon is ready to decorate your house with sheets and so much more! Though I was sincerely waiting for something with spikes, metal studs and more precious details of the kind, I was pretty surprised to see how – dare I say – average? the new bedding collection from Bee’s Deréon looks like. Weren’t you expecting something more edgy? (via 1, 2)
Ah, supermodels! And their husbands! Remember how active and proactive Gisele Bundchen wants us to know she is? Involved in environmental issues and ecological matters all day long, besides being a perfect model and a more-than-perfect mother / wife?
Yeah, well.. here’s her (and her husband’s) Los Angeles home! It’s still under construction (and it’s no wonder, considering the size of that thing they’ll be calling “home sweet home”), however it’s been estimated at $20 million (8 bedroom home on a $11 million 3,75 acre property looking down on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s house). Earth Mother, eh, Gisele? (via)
