So today we have had the official launch of the Osman Yousefzada’s capsule collection “Little Black Dress” for Mango.
Fast Fashion goes back to black? Or it’s the simplest manner to settle back a sponsorship agreement (mng sponsored Osman’s catwalk). I don’t mind having more black dresses on the market. I’ll just ignore them as usual! But everyone’s making such a fuss about this collection, I had to write about it.

And when we thought the brits were off Victoria Posh Beckham, she turned the table with a Vogue UK cover-story.
And what could she be talking about if not David and fashion? About how life with a footballer can be so inspiring and supportive and how she has joined a gym but can’t attend mainly because she can’t bring herself to wear flat shoes. How interesting! And I thought after all this time she would have had her own gym at home. Hm. Then she’s not so obsessed with her own person as I believed.
Anyway, the photos (since we have to agree, the story isn’t quite the 8 o’clock news journal) are, they say, 1940’s inspired. Bringing a modern version of My Fair Lady Eliza Doolittle to life, as seen by Cecil Beaton (to me it looked more of a Greta Garbo inspired posture, but better look and have your say too! I searched some of Cecil’s work and when coming across this photo it seemed more appropriate than any impersonator of Eliza Doolittle over the years, especially not to Audrey Hepburn), Victoria seems a bit groomed than her usual posh self.
Of course, there will be many to say that she looks every inch a 40s diva and many to ask Audrey who? preferring the Beckham Lady to My Fair Lady. Continue reading →

Ruben Toledo and Ruven Afandor joined hands to make this beautiful ad campaign for the Nordstrom retailer. Toledo painted some walls to create black and white surrealistic images but he also painted the models.
Here are some of the thoughts of the people involved (and the images, of course).
“It’s one thing to say that fashion and art go together and to show it by putting a model in an art gallery. We knew we didn’t want to do that and we knew Ruben’s artwork needed to be more than just a backdrop. Instead, what Ruben and Ruven came up with truly fused art and photography. The art became the environment–transcending the very idea of a backdrop. The result truly exceeded our expectations.” said Linda Finn, executive vice president of marketing at Nordstrom
The campaign featuring Lily Cole, Jenny Sweeny and Kiera Gormley will hit magazines (Elle, Vanity Fair and Vogue) in the March issues.
“Making art for the images of the ad campaign was really an art happening for me–the walls I painted on were 20 feet tall by 30 feet long and each scene contained three walls plus the floor! Each painting was painted over by the next and when I work this fast, the energy for me comes from everyone around,” he added. “It has to truly be a collaboration with everyone involved and in fact that is what great fashion or art is really about for me.” confessed Toledo about the campaign
I love the pictures! It seems more to me like art than commercial consciousness in this campaign. What do you say?

Two fashion icons pictures together. One of them is white, the other one is black. Both of them beautiful, both of them overwhelmingly known all over the world. Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell are posing together for Mario Testino in the French edition of February Vogue Magazine.
The article begins with a snoring title about Kate and Naomi being not only beauty and fashion icons but also “bad girls” perfect representations “this glam duo lasts because it embodies beauty, freedom and even the right to get burned”. But that’s about how far this article goes about Kate and Naomi “duo”.

Patrick Demarchelier imagined a simple setting photo shoot to bring the most important catwalk spring-summer 2008 in the pages of Vogue.
Starring Daria Werbowy, the spring-summer 2008 preview starts with Louis Vuitton. Ballerina tulle layered out in a romantic outfit and continues with stripes and stars from Chanel spring-summer 2008, a blue mini dress, a red cardigan and the red and white striped jacket.

Once a month or so, I do my newsstand roundup and that’s one report I know you would enjoy as well! Because I’m going through some of the classic but also some titles you’re least accustomed with.
I’m looking forward to spring and all the fashion awakening it brings. From paper magazines to street style, I’ll be hunting novelty and inspiration. More or less mainstream, let’s March on:
Far from being a joke or even the slightest style-challenging, Rihanna is Vogue US’ covergirl. For the third time. It’s hardly newsflash, but March is Oscar month, so my expectations were flyin in Hollywood’s directions – perhaps Lupita N’Yongo?

In an effusion of immodest satisfaction, Graydon Carter, the Vanity Fair editor, launches a semi-rhetorical question in regards of the longevity of Vanity Fair magazine which is launching its 100 Anniversary edition this month:
‘In an age when nothing seems to last—not convictions, not even cities—a centennial, like the one Vanity Fair celebrates this year, makes me marvel at the simple fact of longevity.’
On the cover of its special anniversary edition, Kate Upton holds a mini-cake with one candle and looks as glamorous as Marilyn Monroe did. Back in her 1962s Happy Birthday, Mr. President heydays. So yeah, Mr Carter: I totally approve and join you in marveling at the simple fact of reenacting past glories over and over again and still being published month after month after month (last month’s covergirl? Late Lady Diana!)

After having heard about Christy Turlington Burns getting back on the Calvin Klein advertising projects, I discovered today that she was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar June-July 2013! This definitely marks a comeback for the gorgeous model! Which is excellent since she’s really one remarkable woman, both in and out.
Harper’s covers (newsstand and subscribers) were both excellently done with minimal visual effort, black and white and Christy. She brings all the magic! And although I really love her wide, honest smile (from the newsstand cover), the gorgeous Tom Ford zebra dress on the second cover is just breathtaking! There’s something iconic in that picture taken by Daniel Jackson. Something unwritten, unspoken, unclear but undoubtedly amazing!
