How’s that possible? If I only had a hint of what was going to happen, I would have hold on to that Vogue Paris story and today a side by side comparison would have seen the light of Stylefrizz. Oh well…

October 2010 was Lara Stone’s Vogue Paris month – Vogue UK has her on the November 2010 cover, as photographed by Alasdair McLellan (should we expect a Vogue US December 2010 cover? Just for the fun of it). Clearly worlds apart from the unsubtle Vogue Paris cover, Lara Stone’s bleached eyebrows look feels much more familiar. Plus Britain is her official home now, following her marriage, so a next-girl-look was more than appropriate. It’s a good cover, irreproachable, however in no particular way outstanding. Why is Cheryl Cole relevant for the fashion industry? Oh, I know, I know, I should be asking this every time a non-model or a fashion outsider covers a fashion magazine. Still, I’m ready to forgive and forget, close my eyes and get on with the show. When a good cover happens.

This Cheryl Cole Vogue UK October 2010 cover is so wrong, so eye hurting and fashion insulting, I can’t bring myself around to digest it. Everyone loves Cheryl Cole. It’s a fashion. Get a highly media – covered divorce and you get a Demarchelier Vogue cover as bonus. Great deal, eh? (Vogue via)

Fashion-wise, it seems Kate Moss is the most precious, relevant thing in the UK. She’s covering the September 2010 issue of Vogue (making this her 30th Vogue cover ever) and she brings nothing new by doing so.

Kate Moss, the ultimate fashion’n rock star, as photographed by Patrick Demarcherlier gives us another pretext to pick on Vogue’s (UK or US) obsessions. Whether it’s about movie stars or Kate Moss, Vogue editors have their weaknesses and that shows.

The Moss Factor fails to bring something substantial to the fashion scene. By now we know everything by heart, every possible twist of Moss photography. I wish there was something more original in this pictorial, something more appealing than the certified charm of Kate Moss doing her rock chick thing. Freja Beha Erichsen is definitely riding the summer wave right now. Even if it’s because of that lovely, lovely haircut, and she definitely deserves the attention! However, with Freja there’s much more than that.

There she goes, gracing the August 2010 issue of Vogue UK. If the cover picture looks familiar, it’s because you just saw the very same dress (only in a different color) on Lily Allen, for the (British again) cover of Elle. They love Miu Miu in the UK! The hopes we’re putting in a model cover (especially when Vogue covers involved) and the disappointment we end up getting fed with! I wonder if it’s made in purpose to have us feel contempt and disgust for model covers since they’re so glamourless and tacky!

Nevertheless, here’s Vogue UK’s June 2010 issue with Angela Lindvall on the cover. Don’t tell me it’s supposed to make us think about sunny beaches and cooling waves! All I can think of when looking at Angela Lindvall’s Vogue cover is that someone over at Vogue was really uninspired the day they went for this cover! Feeling very 90s and uninspired! Why else would they have published this photo as cover shot? (photo via)

It has been a while since Gwyneth’s notorious Vogue covers. Going for a portrait cover this time, Gwyneth Paltrow seems to take more pride in her Goop-ish ways than her acting ways.

Even so, I’m sure there’s a Gwyneth-movie coming up sometime soon, so this UK Vogue May 2010 cover only comes as a result of the promotional campaign. Regardless, I think Gwyneth can do so much more than show her pretty face and preach a certain lifestyle. Do you do Goop? (photo via)

While we were enthusiastically discussing the wonderful Red Carpet that graced this year’s Oscars Ceremony, in a land not far away, Kate Moss happened on the cover of Vogue April 2010, the British edition!

I wish I could tell you I felt remotely surprised (I even asked myself why they took them so long to bring her back! I mean – last September? Pfff that’s an eternity long!). I even wish I could tell you the cover brings a new Kate! (is that even humanly possible, after all this time in fashion and modelling?) Well, until the editorial pictures appear (which I can tell you right now they’re trying to fed us a Basic Instinct Kate), the cover is what we have to run our covers mill (oh, in case you’re wondering, the Devil is wearing Prada on the cover!) To tell you the truth, I missed Natalia Vodianova. At one point she was everywhere, in every magazine, everyone was telling her Cinderella story. But then Lara Stone happened to the fashion population.
