Knowing that Olivier Theyskens designed Caroline Trentini’s wedding dress, it looks like a logical choice for both of them, to appear together at the 2012 edition of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala. Caroline Trentini is a great model for Theyskens light blue skirt and lace top gown for the Met Gala 2012. The dress is lovely, now we could use some smiling, Caroline! {tFS}

One of the most expected guests who arrived really, really late at the Met Gala 2012 was none the other than Beyonce! In true Diva style, Beyonce was wearing a show stopping dress signed Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture. With a serious makeover.
It’s a dress that won’t go unnoticed, pretty much in Beyonce’s figure hugging signature style, flamboyant and hardly wearer – friendly. It’s going to be interesting to see where the fashion reports will place Beyonce’s dress for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala 2012. This week the Met Gala, next week the Chanel Cruise Fashion Show – which, will take place, as reported, at the prestigious Château de Versailles. Karl Lagerfeld’s plan for the recently restored French Royal gardens involves water. Another water – inspired collection? Whenever I turned to Guess campaigns / products I had a distinct feeling of familiarity. Something was oddly similar with DSquared, Gucci and so many more reputed fashion houses. It would appear that the similarities are not accidental: Gucci fights Guess in court claiming there’s a massive knockoff scheme in place, guess having replicated the trademark styles of Gucci, Tod’s, Ferragamo, Vuitton, Prada, DSquared, Nike, Puma .. and I’m sure the list goes on. Last we talked about Jessica Stam, she was proudly showing her new hair color. Jessica Stam, the forever blond is now a brunette. If we’re to believe that early hair – report!
Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s March 2012 shows us the same Jessica Stam, same ethereal blond charm, wearing a well suited flowery lace Vuitton dress on the cover. The inside pictorial was styled by Jillian Davison and Christine Centenera, her hair was done by Teddy Charles and the makeup was executed by Mickael Noiselet. Yesterday I told you all a short Vogue US story. The one I see through my fashamateur eyes. Now I’d like to tell you the French version. Vogue Paris February 2012 is all about Daria Werbowy as photographed by Inez and Vinoodh.
Daria is simply breathless on the cover, the issue is as promising as can be with an amazingly beautiful Prada swimsuit (although I promise, if I’d ever have a swimsuit like that, I’d frame it rather than face the Ocean waves wearing it!). After all, Daria is such a rare sight in fashion lately, one can’t do otherwise but consider it’s pure luck to have her on a magazine cover! The following four positions were taken by Jimmy Choo’s Swarovski sandals ($2,095), Prada’s knee high black leather boots ($1,200) and Chrissie Morris’s suede mesh peep toe ankle boots ($1,365). The selection was made by the editors of Saks Fifth Avenue and WWD’s Footwear News. The selection was submitted to 35,000 online voters and Valentino came first before the likes of Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci, Stuart Weitzman and more. 2011 marks an anniversary I wish we would never had (at least not so early): 1 year has passed since Alexander McQueen’s death. Consequently, events have been rolled to commemorate the designer and his amazing sartorial work.
One of the most important celebrations is graced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art through the Costume Institute Exhibition: Alexander Mcqueen – Savage Beauty. Traditionally, every year, a Met Gala occurs, to mark the debut of the said exhibition. Every name and major personality in fashion is there on the big Met Ball night.
