Bright colors, summer-y feelings, mini lengths and flowy pieces of fabric to create the impression of length for some dresses, everything points in a young, active direction. BCBG Max Azria is a cocktail collection for the most part, with no pants and no height compromise: tall, tall platform sandals, beautiful and comfy looking.

Simple hair and make up keep the collection to a healthy basic, almost glamour-less and street-fashion friendly. The clutch still holds the prime fashion accessory position with a significant lack of any other accessories: belts/necklaces/bracelets/head pieces.(you can see photos of the entire collection here)

What do you do with your bad hair days? I typically disguise that with a headband, a scarf, bobby pins and hope it’ll go away the next day. (the story continues right after the jump with more images!)

But what if it doesn’t? Then what? Most of the days, my hair looks just like this model’s hair. When I look at her, I even envy myself! only now, my hair just ain’t like that anymore! And there’s worse: I only use professional hair care products. It’s a habit I picked up by going once a year to visit my hairstylist. Kerastase, Tigi that’s what you find in my beauty case. But now my hair doesn’t want to know about those hyper expensive, hyper hype products anymore. It’s dry and it’s curling on itself like suffering from some virtual tummy ache! Imagine that, my hair has indigestion! I tried “natural” remedies. Like beer and honey? And yolks? Nope. They don’t speak my hair’s language either!

My Ever-So-Adored Husband is completely laid back about this hair-situation. He said, much to my amazement, that twice a year I have these bad hair & nails weeks I turn to nuclear catastrophes and after a while it all goes back to normal. And I stop crying my hair out. Do you have bad hair seasons? Bad nails weeks? What do you do? I even thought about wearing cartoonish (you know, the ones for kids?) band aids on my fingertips, then I changed my mind cause my kids would want to wear them too and we’d turn into a fingertips band aid family. I even thought about wearing some white tape like Michael Jackson’s? Then it crossed my mind that I’ve got to learn the moonwalk to make a credible MJ fan to everyone who might wonder why I’m wearing those white bands on my fingertips.

(I’m eagerly waiting for my baby girl’s teen years. By the looks of Lourdes, everything that’s written in the stylists books for the season must be worn together: sequins, exotic leather print, metal studs, twilight fangs.) So 13-year old Lourdes wears dandy Louboutin shoes worth at least $500. And why wouldn’t she? Though Kate Moss is notoriously known for not wearing any lingerie (at least not as far as the top goes) on and off the fash-sets, she goes on and on in a special Topshop interview about lingerie and how everybody wants a precious piece of underwear and a fantastic pajama in and about. Especially around Christmas! (in my vision of Christmas, there’s really not much sleeping room involved, but maybe that’s just oldfashioned me…)

If I was to summarize Kate Moss Christmas Collection for Topshop, I’d go for this: throw the conventional Christmas out the window, bring the exotic one in! Hang your Christmas baubles in a palm tree, drink sake and dine sushi, that’s the real Kate Moss Christmas!

And as much as I dislike skinny pants and acknowledge the discomfort produced by a tight piece of clothing with countless sequins on, I’ll have to admit I would happily open my wardrobe doors to some of Christophe Decarnin’s pieces from the Spring Summer 2010 Balmain collection! If you can get over the ripped tees, over the glittery pants and the cavewoman-ish dresses, then you’ll be into Balmain next Summer too. Because there’s simply no way of going round this collection if you’re looking for a dance party costume. There’s a problem, though – even if the mid-high heels could help your dance routine, I highly dislike them. With me it’s either skyscraper heels or no heels at all. There’s no in-between. Medium heels go wonderfully with an office outfit. Nothing to do with the club or a smashing party.

Decarnin’s woman is a militant one. There’s almost no outfit without a bullet quelquepart, a war-reminder detail, something to warn us that we’re just camping, that there’s no rest for the fashwarriers, even if they party all night long. Balmain Spring Summer 2010 is a deconstructive, war-friendly DIY glittery collection for those who want to spend in the vicinity of $20,000 for a night’s outfit.
