Why is Demi Moore on the cover of W Magazine, you may ask. Because apart from her Twitter-esque hobby, she hasn’t done much in the spotlight. Oh, wait – is it maybe because she’s controversially married with a man who’s 16 years her junior? Or because she brought Twitter to the state of (w)art?

Act not surprised – the interview talks about her upcoming films and her Twitter career. Oh, and Ashton, her husband. And her daughters. You could think you know her. But then you don’t. While Vera Wang Princess is already available in Department Stores (yep, it’s Coty, you can find it anywhere) there’s not much information available on the new campaign, but we do love to make a little bit of research on our own, right? While the ad allows you to travel in the dual world of a teenager (think Hannah Montana or Taylor Momsen), the perfume seems to be just as lasting as an ice-cream in the hot beach sand. Too bad about the fruity, vanilla, flower notes (aren’t they all, the “young” perfumes fruity, vanill-ish, flower-ish?) it just fades away too soon.

And if the after-effects would have kept a reasonable level, the ad print would have been just as lovely as Zoe. (via)

I for one think it’s a complete misstep for both the giant retailer and the giant couture Rykiel name. For one it’s the oh-so-bad photoshopping case: the girls look fresh right out of Madame Tussaud’s oven and the lingerie… well, it’s Rykiel after all, I can’t say bad about it! But get this: someone chez Ralph Lauren isn’t a fan of the Blogosphere, hence the DMCA complaint filed against Boing Boing & PhD (Digital Milennium Copyright Act). Resisting the wrongful complaint, Boing Boing’s editor, Cory Doctorow, cleared out the copyright law infringement signaled by the RL lawyers (This is classic fair use: a reproduction “for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting,” etc.). Don’t try to contain the liberty of speech! It will blow in your face, just like it did in Blogosphere Vs Ralph Lauren: the reputed fashion brand issued a statement saying that:

“For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.”

For someone who’s highly controversial and foremost known as a smoking and drinking champion, Lily really had fun doing this simple Elle job (not to mention she was acclaimed by the photograph, the stylist and pretty much everyone on the photo-team). What I love the most about this Lily Allen Elle story is her being a normal person. A very talented one, but still a normal sized, normal looking person. Of course they made her wear glossy high fashion designers so she looks all pampered up and ready to rock any catwalk; of course they had to Photoshop her (almost beyond recognition) because you know, fashion people don’t have skin flaws or texture irregularities. But Lily still is Lily and she’s covering a special issue of Elle, celebrating 25 years of London Fashion week! I wonder if she would have still been a fashion (sort of) icon if she wasn’t a celebrity. Oh, how easy the famous one get stylish and fashperfect! Especially the rich ones!
