Long story short (wink): there’s this amazing character in Pixar’s Cars movies: Mater. Mater is aaaah-dorable! He’s a rusty toe truck with a heart of gold who loves his friends and his memories! As such, he was very offended when someone offered to “fix” him: straighten up his scratched, heavily bent, rusty doors (or something). Why? Well, because every scratch is there to remind him of the good times he had with his friends. And he loves each and every friend, and each and every scratch and rust spot!

I’m guessing the people from Madame Figaro never took time from their fashion busy schedule to watch Cars. Otherwise they would’ve never performed such heavy retouching and skin smoothing on lovely Kate Moss who was photographed for their January 27th issue! My God! Her skin is smoother than my 4-year-old daughter’s! Please stop insulting our intelligence with these scandalously modified images!

The campaign’s photo shows a too smooth skin on Rachel’s face, with a smooth glow. Given that the visual sustains an anti – ageing cosmetic product, I think it’s a good attitude from the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority to ask the giant cosmetics brand to stop pushing this ad, at least in its current form. Baby steps, but we’re getting there! Hopefully! I can’t wrap my head around it, people! – we’re more and more enamored with reality shows but can’t stand the look of real faces in ad campaigns (and magazines)!

If she’s fine with it, we sure are! It’s her body after all! I just don’t understand why she accepted being thinned by Marie Claire for this issue. Since everyone was so fine with her body and all? The Italian luxury brand is going (again) for a famous face and this time it’s Anne Hathaway (who was also the face for the brand’s last ad campaign). This an excellent placement as Anne is playing Selina Kyle, the Catwoman, in the upcoming Batman installment (for which, rumor has it, tickets are already selling out, although the premiere for The Dark Knight Rises is slated for July 2012 – need I remind, however, you that rumors are rumors, they can’t always be trusted). Back to Anne: She’s the face of Tod’s Signature Handbags Collection, as photographed by Mert and Marcus. And she’s looking lovely, natural and all lady-like. (they went a bit too far her mouth’s photoshopping, didn’t they?)

So that marks the main reason I wanted to bring Emma Stone into the picture today. The second reason, obviously, is her fronting the Revlon Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign. Photographed by Craig McDean, Emma is adorable and her perfectly coral makeup (and coral top) makes me wish for summer. Isn’t she lovely?

As for Olivia Wilde – we knew she was into something – Revlon, so this isn’t so surprising after all. However, the loads of Photoshop she’s been through makes it harder for me to really identify Olivia there. Sure her eyes are there.. But there’s something strange about the mouth. Isn’t it?

There’s no telling if she will do as she pleases since the Duchess is carefully guarded by the Palace and so far already refused a Vogue story from UK’s Alexandra Schulman (who also tried to get Testino on the job, right around the Royal Wedding).

As far as Sasha’s pictures, I find myself pretty amazed as even the great Carine Roitfeld declared she was sorry for all we had to endure with her cigarette filled editorials and that she was to never use smoking for fashion pictorials again. In the mean time, Emmanuelle Alt fully embraces the cigarettes and the braless pictures.

Moving on. From one dilemma to another: below you’ll notice a gorgeous image said to be Sasha. However, the fashion people feel alerted by the striking similarity with Anja Rubik’s amazing legs (and more, as you can see here too). W’s Demi Moore all over again? What do you think? Are those Sasha’s legs? or Anja’s?

Julia Roberts, however, is back for Lancome, with a new set of adverts, trying to get to our hearts and wallets.

And she’s doing it pretty well, I have to say – I always had a soft spot for Julia and her amazing smile! She’s got it, yeah baby she’s got it! Pretty Woman all the way, wouldn’t you say? Click through for the video!

Claims that this or that product can restore your youth and give you back the skin you had when you were in your twenties are getting on the consumers nerves. Both Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington acted as spokesfaces for L’oreal and both their respective ads were pulled. And that’s not all: not even the Advertising Standards Authority couldn’t see the original photos due to a preexistent agreement between the celebrities and the cosmetics brand. Can. Not. Believe. It! Can someone head over to Vogue and explain to them how we’re getting tired of seeing women in their mid 40s looking like they were 20yo?
