It’s not her stature, but every time I see pictures of Eva Longoria, all I can think about is a doll. She’s like a living doll, ready to take on her princess gown and rule from her crystal pedestal. If she could pull a Gaga? Of course, anyone can! (with the right amount of ridiculousness that comes with the Gaga-terrain) But I still prefer Eva in some ball-ish gown, something fit for the Red Carpet. That’s just me. Act not surprised – the interview talks about her upcoming films and her Twitter career. Oh, and Ashton, her husband. And her daughters. You could think you know her. But then you don’t. As it seems, Cate Blanchett is actually happening on the December 2009 cover of Vogue (the US edition). And the piece about her, as amazed as always, is called “Truth or Dare”.

At one point, you’ve got to stop and ask yourself (and Vogue editors, biensur) how truly amazed one can be at someone’s subject. Is it proper fascination or merely the happy marketing choice of a leading story that will always draw customers, no matter what. This time, Cate talks with Vogue about her theatrical pleasures and choices. It’ll remain a dark question in Hollywood: why are some of the leading actors of all times fascinated by the stage? The magic of the stage is also a strong threshold to pass (or not) for those who appreciate the actor behind the film actor. For there is indeed a difference between acting and acting in films. A huge one. And Cate delivers for both camps. Thus she is stunning. And she’s both an accomplished mother and wife. She even explains her effervescent Red Carpet (and beyond) style as inspired by her parenting:

The tiny column that you can see at the right of the burning picture says so much about Lady Gaga’s desperation that could be written down in a Gaga-why dictionary: she’s so eager to please, so ambitious to get somewhere, so willing to do anything and everything to look different, she showed up for the shooting wearing absolutely nothing except a rubber rain coat and very, very high heels. I had no idea genial people were so desperate. Wait, but maybe, just maybe, she’s not a style prodigy how she’s trying to get us to believe; maybe she’s just feeding on fame. The end of story. UPDATE: The entire pictorial (for there’s an entire pictorial in the December 2009 issue of Vogue) was imagined and styled by Grace Coddington. Her energy and style combined with Annie Leibovitz’ vision made it wonderfully epic and twice as interesting.

Luckily, there’s not more Gaganess than what we’ve already experienced, she was there more like a favor to her own persona(lity) than anything else. And maybe because there’s nobody out there so fit to play the bad witch as Lady Gaga. Getting back to out pictorial: it has to do with performing arts and it also calls for larger than life involvements: the Blue Note studios, the Carnegie Hall, Coco Rocha, Chanel Iman. How can you say no to a “Performing arts” issue of Vogue? Especially since Gaga is only limited a two pictures?

Also, there’s something about Ellen wanting to be on the cover of Oprah’s O magazine. Something she was trying so hard, for such a long time to do! And she finally got it! Ellen and Oprah do O, the Oprah Magazine cover, together! (so she didn’t really got it, after all, but that’s as far as Michelle Obama went, so I guess it’s okay with a shared cover as well!). Two different covers were made, both with Ellen and Oprah wearing white. The newsstands cover, however, has a special something to it, a joyful cheekiness and the Rey Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons Converse sneakers as playfully shown by Ellen. It’s also my favorite cover. A solo Robert Pattinson on the December 2009 cover of Vanity Fair but a couple-ish Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart break on the December 2009 cover of Harper’s Bazaar. It’s all happening this December 2009, on a magazines stand near you! (the story continues with more images right after the jump!)

I’m seriously waiting for his Twimoment to fade into something more substantial before I say that Robert Pattinson was made for one role and one role only. Even if everyone (and their respective dogs) was expecting a “Breaking Dawn” revelation about his rumored relationship with co-star Kristen Stewart, there’s nothing even remotely close to a confession. Instead you get (longer than my available patience) interviews and loads of photos signed by Bruce Weber (for Vanity Fair) and Mark Selinger (for Harper’s Bazaar).

I still hold a positive perspective over Twilight and everything around it. Well, almost everything. But not because it’s an overwhelmingly literary and cultural phenomenon but because it still delivers the true love message. And that’s always a good thing. Instead of seeing them ditching every single value we used to cherish to “outdated” and not hype anymore, it’s a good believe to install in our young generation’s hearts. That there’s still love, true love out there. Lasting and powerful.

If you’re wondering how come they cover Harper’s Bazaar posing like a couple (as well as the pictorial inside, stubbornly insinuating a relationship between the two co-stars), don’t think further than bank accounts: Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair respectively, for one and New Moon box office on the other hand. I like Kristen’s apparent lack of interest for her new found fame. She looks like a normal teen and that’s good. But I keep in mind the fact that everything-Hollywood is basically made of smoke and mirrors and these two covers are living, print proof!

Getting back to Robert Pattinson: despite of him being compared to the likes of James Dean more often than I care to remember, I want to see more of his so-called rebel acting genius before judging him on or off. For now the only pro I give him just because is having a British accent. And that’s all, folks! What do you make of Robert Pattinson, outside Edward Cullen?
