And although it’s just as shiny and sparkling as the dress, I get the feeling they don’t work towards the same 5th element vibe I was getting earlier. Until I saw some scenes from the Rock of Ages movie trailer. I was blown away! Sure, it was a teaser, so it had to be spectacular. But Tom Cruise, as a rock star, looked pretty much the real deal. He has that superior attitude and that (sometimes) inexplicable energy to rock. The stage. For a movie (initially a Broadway musical, Rock of Ages, the movie, will soon be released in a cinema theater near you, according to imdb – next month I think?). So W Magazine’s June 2012 cover happened. With Tom Cruise sandwiched between two beautiful models – Edita Vilkeviciute and Abbey Lee Kershaw.

I’m really curious to see what comes next in Conde – Nast’s sandwich cover approach. Masterfully executed by Annie Leibovitz, the photo of Hope Solo and Serena Williams flanking Ryan Lochte lacks salt and pepper. So many things work against this cover: from the cliché beach picture we’ve seen Annie doing in the past to the draped beige – ish swimsuits (it occurred to me that these should make us think of golden medals – should they?)

Until more images will pop up online, just to have it all clear for everyone: Serena Williams needs no more introductions in or out of the tennis court – she’s a living legend. Hope Solo is a goalkeeper for the Seattle Sounders Women soccer team; Ryan Lochte is an American swimmer, six – time Olympic medalist.

But who cares about her hair when she delivers such an amazing cover? Arizona Muse is the third cover of i – D magazine’s summer 2012 issue (remember we already talked about pregnant Julia Restoin – Roitfeld and Raf Simmons getting their own covers) as photographed by Kayt Jones.

Love the cover, love the styling, I’m sure I’ll love the inside pictorial also, judging from the film preview here! I thought it was excessive from i – D to have eight different covers for the same issue: now I can’t get enough of them! Can you?

It’s a dress that won’t go unnoticed, pretty much in Beyonce’s figure hugging signature style, flamboyant and hardly wearer – friendly. It’s going to be interesting to see where the fashion reports will place Beyonce’s dress for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala 2012. An avant – gout of Metropolitan Museum’s new exhibition: 2012 brings us “Impossible Conversations”. Inspired by Miguel Covarrubia’s “Impossible Interviews” from Vanity Fair (back from the 1930s), the new exhibition simulates conversations between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada organized in seven themed galleries.

The new exhibition is available through August 19, 2012 and, after the jump, you’ll see fragments of grace torn right from the above mentioned galleries plus a really interesting presentation video.

With strange names like Waist Up / Waist Down, Ugly Chic, Hard Chic, Naif Chic, The Classical Body, The Exotic Body, The Surreal Body, the new Met Museum exhibition promises to be not just interesting and fashion – comprehensive but also very important since it celebrates the work of two women designers. The presentation video below is a great introduction to Met’s 2012 exhibition, so if you have a good 15 minutes to spend, don’t hesitate in pressing play!
